San Diego - a personal investigation.
Just a note to let you know that at great personal sacrafice I shall be visiting Limeydal in San Diego next week in order to quash the vicious rumours that he is indeed living in RIB paradise and enjoying himself far too much.
I shall not be able to fullfil requests such as 'Stamp on his foot / poke him in the eye or nut him' as these are clearly juvenile requests fuelled by extreme jealousy particularly by those in the west midlands and manchester area (and his family are kindly putting me up).
Don't worry, I will report back in due course with the 'real story' .
No need to thank me.
Cheers
Rich L

RichL, a little ditty!!
I hate to disappoint you!
But indeed it is true!
The sun always shines there!
The sky's always blue!
We've been to San Diego..
Three summers in a row..
The weather's always settled
A SHOCK for us, I know!!!!
I've known "Limey" for ages..
We both went to school..
In the rainy West Midlands..
Where the weather's always cruel!
But HE saw the light
And escaped while he could...
To sunny California...
Where the weather's always good!
You'll have a great time..
On the water out there..
Always flat as a pancake..
Warm wind through your hair!
It's perfect for ribbing..
I think you'll agree..
All year round great climate..
And great sea life to see!
So it befalls you.....
On your return to the UK..
To post something on RIBNET..
to really make our day...!
Tell us it rains...
All day and all night!!!!!
But we'll know that you're fibbing!!
The sky's ALWAYS bright!!
So let us just pray..
That the summer over here..
Gives at least one good week..
To give us good cheer!
But if that's NOT the case..
We can write to your HOST!!!
"WE'RE ALL COMING TO STAY..
THAT'LL TEACH YOU TO BOAST!
But for now I must go..
To the shops over here!
To buy more woolly jumpers..
And FOUL WEATHER GEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, RichL, you couldn't wish for a better host, have a good time and yes we are very very very very jealous!1

Jewels/RichL,
hate to say it , but we are having the wettest month for 40 years!!
So after Rich's visit I think you will be ammending your ditty!!
The first photo is the bridge on the way to work(yes the water usually flows under it!)
The second it where I park my transit van .(dont think I quite have enough clearance !!!

It's Raining...men!
Well, so it would seem
That all is not well
The rain has been falling!
Caused quite a swell!
I take it all back!!
It's not always sunny!
Occasionally it PISSES DOWN!
Now..THAT IS FUNNY!!
But it's perfect for ribbing
You still must agree!
You open the curtains.....
And there is ..THE SEA!!
You don't have to bother
to drive to the slip!!!
You just wait for the rain!!
It saves a long trip!!

Yes,
still big Navy presence. (in fact all military branches stationed here)
Big push on at the moment to develope the Tourism aspect in San Diego Bay itself ,with the addition of several ships to the nautical museum.(The latest being the carrier Midway.)
Great place to go on holiday and hope maybe to see some members over here vacationing one day.
RichL is due here for a quick visit this weekend , as he was in San Francisco on business.
The City has quite a varied and interesting history regarding the military and good reading and links below,

I spent a few days there in 92 on my way back from NZ. We have family friends out in San Diego. Lovely place, would have loved to do some boating there. Particularly nice thought here in sub zero Canada at the moment
