Saturday 24th August Mersea Strood

Saturday 24th August
It’s a big tide across The Strood at Mersea at 16:15 which will cover the road and creates a decent spectacle to either sit and watch or inflate the paddle board and paddle down the road.

I’ll be lunching at Brightlingsea late morning / early afternoon before heading somewhere for a spot of lunch (location tbc) if anyone fancy’s cruising round with us.

Easy bit of navigation but the return may be choppy depending on wind direction but nothing a 4.5m boat+ can’t handle.

There’s the option of a dusk trip to Clacton Pier for Fireworks if the weather is favourable too.

We're in that area (West Mersea being our most used launch location) a few days adrift of your dates but always like a good daytime tide at the Strood. We use the Strood channel for refining engine/prop/trim settings and despite not being someone to go round in circles much there is a childish pleasure in whooshing down to the queue of cars and executing a smooth on the plane turn an appropriate distance short of the railings.

Enjoy the day out.

I may have been ejected for a run there with someone doing just that and not telling the crew they were about to turn hard & fast at speed! 🫣
