Can't help, I'm sorry to say, Spud.

But you do seem to be approaching the knowledge gaining experience the right way. Self study and getting other enthusiasts to help you learn is the way to go.

I'm sure you are not going to be the sort that needs legislation to ensure you become sensible mariners.

Good luck to you both!

Thanks Guys

Just a quick thankyou to the guys who have replied to this post. Aging Youth thanks for the offer but Sunday is a no go for me, a certain Rugby match takes precedent on that day, hopefully we will link up though soon. Im going to be out with Scuba Kid who has kindly offered his services as a local guide for us on Saturday, launching from Lymington i believe. Hopefully Wavehumper will be able to join us to. I will put a post on letting anyone who is interested know how we got after the weekend.
Thanks Spud

Spud, did not see you!! Hardly suprising really as the surface viz was non existent. I went round the Island ... well the GPS said we went round the island, I could not see much of it.

However the sea was like a mirror and there was enough viz to see other shipping. Awesome day!

Great Day

Well Saturday was a great first day out with my Rib, thanks in part to John aka 'scubakid'. The sea state was mirror calm as andy said and the fog was pretty thick for most of the day. we launched from Lymington and then made our way out past the Needles and around the back of the Island for a while. We then turned back and had a play before heading up the river Medina for lunch at The Folly, first of many such visits i reckon. The Crew Pot was enough for all of us twice over, suffice to say i was well stuffed upon leaving. After leaving we then headed to a few launch sites suggested by Scubakid for future reference and generally had some fun launching ourselves over some Ferry and Motor Boat wakes. After 5 hrs out i was totally knackered and ready for my bed, but unfortunately had to then drive all the way back to Glos via Upavon to drop Scubakid off. I had a really good day though and cant wait to get out again, once again John thanks for the help and advice. Andy hopefully we will link up soon and the same goes to you to Stu.
