Count me as interested in going but seeing as I haven't even got my boat wet yet, I'll hang off confirming anything.

Would a 320 with 8hp be able to keep up with the group?

I would imagine that set up should be more than up to it.
I take it the 320 planes?
I will be mostly going at displacement speeds any how's - doing some sight seeing and fishing.

My mate had a Yam 310 with a 5 hp Yamaha 2 stroke a few years ago.
It got on the plane with him and his 8 year old aboard.
Probably combined weight of 17 stone.
I'm sure the 8 hp will get on the plane one up along with the provisions for the trip.
Would be struggling tho if you are going to take another person with you.

I think I'll be leaving the gf behind. She's not keen on rough camping.

Stufft, the whole point of the trip is an adventure for slow boats which wouldn't normally join a fast cruise or venture such distances on their own. the legendary Gurnard travels at a relatively sedate pace exploring along the way, I usually cruise at 18kts but can be slower in poor weather. at that speed though the whole trip would only take about five hours return, so we will be taking our time to make sure it is worth the effort - like your GF I need a good reason for roughing it.
We do need to be aware that if the weather is like this weekend then the trip is likely to be rerouted (possibly to the pub!) and of course we will all recognise that the smallest boats are most like to suffer most in poor conditions.

I'm no stranger to bad weather, I've been riding a motorbike for years and camped my way around the outer hebrides.
