Thanks gazz...
Yeah,... I'm hoping to go across for Friday, early afty,......maybe do a bit of fishing / camping on greater cumbrae, prior to the sat. am " muster"..... and head home monday lunchtimeish.....

spent a lot of my youth in the clyde, and looking forwards to getting back to it!!

1st time at the sibbing, and already trying to over think it.....its a disease....).... I'll need to get my foot off the gas peddle, and follow the vets. leads....

Very much looking forwards to meeting the other like minded loonatics, having watched most of Donnys water based vids!!.....

Scottish sib outing 2020

I too got hooked watching Donny’ YouTube videos.

I’ve moved from my sibs to a small rib now but the principle is the same. Just a small boat at the end of the day. 4m

Non of us are at the level of Donny’s knowledge but we’re learning slowly but surely.

It’s a nice area to explore around Largs. I’m really looking forward to it. Been there a few times now. Even tried my hand at recording the trips on a YouTube video [emoji1303]

Lol.....i was watching your vids earlier ce soir.....loch striven!!..... ive never seen a more dour loch!!.... always low cloud and raining!!.....it used to have half a dozen redundant oil tankers parked up...barely visible through the pppp.....precipitation.

And true to form,....the heavens opened on your trip!!....

Yours is the perfect rib..... small enough, cheap to run, but with enough grunt....is that a 4 stroke 60??

Mine is a glorified big boat tender with a 2t 30 yam......i used to have an sr4, / 35 hp johnson, which was much drier, and more sea worthy....but this thing fell at my feet, so I'll give it a whirl....

i think the slowest speed that i can remain on the plane is around 12 knots.

I would have thought you could sustain that with a 3m zodiac, 10hp without any problem, but you may not be able to do that with a 6hp, depending how much weight youre hauling around??

I'll be envious of your fuel consumption.....i reckon i'll do around 2 gallons...maybe a little less.... per hour at 12 - 14 knots / 100 miles = 16 gallons for the trip.....im guessing you may be around half of that.

I'll take 10, and get the rest of you to tow me home!!....or more likely, refuel in Cambletown.

Lol, Yeah with the 6hp i have covered 54 miles and still had fuel to spare but my speed is not great at about 12mph but gets on the plane even with 2 x 5"8 11 stoners aboard.

I did the trip about two years ago on a 3.3m with a 15hp. The 15 was more than plenty so a 10hp will probably do the job ok.

So long as you can plane and maintain 14-16 nots you should be fine. We never go faster than that. Although you’ll get very wet in anything other than flat calm in a 3.25.

See what HH says. It’s his trip [emoji1303]

Go for it, you might as well self isolate on a nice Scottish island. I recon the safest place you could be is at sea. Plus you’re away from all this hysterical pish

There’s ages to go until May, by then we’ll either be dead, or folk will have realised this has been the biggest con trick since man made global warming.
