Solent 21st July

Planning on launching tomorrow morning from The Ferry Inn Hayling Island at about 09:30 or soon after.

Kevin, Aging Youth, will be joining me in my boat with my two lads.

I'm just planning a short trip across to Cowes for Ice creams etc so if anyone else is on the water come and say Hi or join us at the launch.

Nasher.

Nasher,

Definately can't join you this time unless I finish work really early so no dodgy photos. Enjoy yourself.

Hope you have a good time.

Tell Kevin it's about time he got his own boat back on the water instead of poncing rides on other peoples

Hi.

Over the last week or so I've been helping Kevin get his Humber back up and running.

The list of jobs has gradualy been whittled down, todays fun with resin, fibreglass tape, Gelcoat, and sticky paint brushes was a major step forward.

It now runs, holds air, and 'should' stay in one piece.

Sorry, didn't take the camera.

Did Hayling to Cowes where we stopped for Ice creams etc then back to hayling for lunch.

Spent a bit of time mucking about in the water with the boys then had a blast up and down Southsea beach before dragging the boat out and off home to nurse the sunburnt nose!

Off Southsea Beach we found a double width version of one of those Green Plastic garden chairs just floating on the surface.
Hauled it on board with the intention of putting it on the beach, when the elderly couple fishing from a dory we'd launched alongside earlier in the day pottered over to say hello and jumped at the chance of taking it off our hands.
Looked like it'd been in the water quite some time by the slime etc all over it.

Shame Kevin couldn't join us in the end, but me and my lads had a great day.

Was also nice to meet Simmons0, who came over for a chat whilst we were preparing to launch.

When you say "balasted up and down Southsea beach" I assume that was below 10 knts

Peter

My two young sons had no 'Balast' effect at the speed we were doing

I was well off-shore, and only dipped in to go through the gap in the barrier.

You can do the main passage in excess of 10knts - it's the inshore one that gets a bit hairy

Is that the "Inshore, Inshore" one, Or just the "Inshore" one .

My Dad told me when he was a Sea Scout in 1945 they actually sat on top of (for a second or three) one of the Concrete Pillars whilst out training in a Row boat. They thought they had enough depth to pass over but got caught out in a waves trough. No nice markers in those days.

On The Water

Hi All,

My thanks go to Nasher for all of his help in getting "Southcoast Two" ready to go back to sea. Mr Tibbetts next time you are down you are welcome to come on board but be carefull you might fall overboard It will be good to have her back on the water soon.

Unfortunately I could not make it out with Nasher as some Scroat had stolen my motorbike during the early hours of the morning

Thanks to the local street cleaner he found it dumped in the local Subway minus it ignititon system.

So you can imagine I was not a happy bunny yesterday.

See you all up at the Church next month.
