Solent-Alderney-Falmo-Padstow June'10
Am planning a cruise from Solent to Padstow, over Fri 27 June-Sun 29 June, via Alderney, Falmouth and Scillies in 7.5m Ribeye + 200 Yam. Hopefully 4-up, w and w permitting.
Anyone fancy joining us on a leg or two?
Not done legs 1 or 2 before, but can recommend Falm-Scillies-Padstow as a jaunt!
Plenty of planning needed for tides etc. and might install aux 2 x 40 lit tanks as a bit of reassurance.
Any input welcome.
Duncan

Solent-Alderney-Falmo-Padstow June'10
Thanks. expect to be in Alderney for late lunch 25/06, Guernsey overnight. Would welcome the comfort of the longest leg with a decent size twin!
Loved the story of the refurb of the Arctic btw!

As always, if the weather is good, we'll be up for jaunt in local waters.

Aiming to top up tanks (RIB and crew) in Alderney , then wander over to Guernsey for dinner and rest.
Is Victoria Marina the best spot for mooring up? Pre-booking necessary? Best timing for St P P entry? Sorry to bombard you, but am a bit light on local knowledge!

Petrol is not available from a quayside pump in Alderney, but can be arranged by cans from the petrol stations. This is best done when the tide is up and you can get into the inner harbour.
As far as Guernsey goes, there are other people more knowledgeable than me (I'm Jersey based). However, Victoria Marina is quite a good destination for a first visit, and you shouldn't need to pre book, although that may depend on how many in the flotilla. There are waiting pontoons in the outer harbour if you arrive before the sill is open (they are not conencted to land though). Victoria is close to the town bars/restaurants etc and fuel is available nearby at Boatworks Plus to the south.
Best to leave Alderney somewhere around half tide which is slack water. When ebbing, it will be in your favour on the journey down as well. You should manage it in less than an hour and hopefully catch the sill into the marina

Mainbrayce can provide you with petrol from the Inner Harbour with a little warning and an idea of quantity. It is also slightly cheaper than from the pump.
