Great to hear the Next Generation Ribsters will be along
The weather doesn't look hugely promising!
Let's all keep an eye on the forecast and say yay or nay definitely on Friday.
Will update thread regularly this week.
It may have to be the Lightship

Weather for Sunday is looking quite 'non-family orientated' at the moment. Saturday doesn't look too bad though.

Cheers for that Matt. A last-minute dash could therefore be called for Sat. depending on updates for next weekend (looking gloomy at the moment! )
K & P
(keep the updates coming. It may have to be a virtual boat trip. i.e. some daydreaming from the sofa with a bottle or two, watching Strictly, The X Factor or the gArfish's extradition from Kazakhstan to Calshot)

It's changing by the hour!
We could aim for the sub-Force 5 'window' between 09:00 and 15:00 on Sunday (if only the forecasts were that accurate!!!).

A bit of bad weather should make it more interesting. Time for drysuits perhaps!

I will be out in the morning with the lifeboat. It is not looking pretty, forecast 30 knots of wind from the west. High Water Cowes is 10.30 am therefore with wind over tide the solent will be an animal.

Cheers everyone for the weather updates
Love the lyrical description Simon 'the Solent will be an animal'.
There's probably a little gung ho in all of us that likes the sound of that However, & with apologies for offending the gArfish , the Solent may well be a right pig for the weekend.
Not the sort of weather for a fun weekend jolly en famille.
So we propose sitting it out and having a dekko at next weekend's conditions.
(Good luck with the lifeboat Simon & crew and hope you all & everyone else out there are safe today.)
Kathleen & Paul

Where's Met Office Martin when you need him? :)
'the solent will be an animal' : Simon Hawkins
'wot sawt ov animul?' : garF
'its even worse which is a bummer' : Carly O'
'the weather is too poo' : Zippy
The end result of all these highly technical weather forecasts!!!!
is that it's a weekend for writing the Christmas Cards. At least the rellies will be impressed if you all are on time this year!
Let's keep an eye on next weekend's weather offerings!
Enjoy the wind Phil

So that's why we got so much airtime!
Only joking. We didn't do anything remotely challenging!
Please keep the weather reports coming for next weekend!

I will not be able to make Sunday 16th, prior lunch engagement. I could do Saturday so I'll keep any eye on the thread so see if the weather reports bring it forward.
That is pretty unlikely so Merry Christmas to you all, hope the trip comes off and you enjoy it.
If the sea goes flat I'd like to think I could get out between xmas and new year so I'll keep an eye out for any other planned trips.
Peter.
