Solent Independant Lifeboat Blast - 10th July

Some advance notice of a rib event that is shaping up for the 10th July - designed to be a social cruise in company for the boats involved and raise some awareness for the independent units and lifeguard clubs throughout the cruising area.

We’re looking to be leaving Poole at 1300, with Poole Lifeguards leading the flotilla out (hopefully), stop and wave to Bournemouth lifeguards, Branksome and Southbourne teams as we pass each home base.

Head over towards Hurst castle and wave at Solent Rescue ( at Leap), round to Calshot to see Stanswood lifeguard team, Hamble next for a cup of tea stop (hopefully) followed by a run down to Gafirs to have a wave then across Portsea Rescue before turning.

We'll cross over to Ryde, down to the needles to meet Freshwater before heading to for home.

It's a day out in company, waving, horn honking and saying hello to those that help others.

More details to come as it's only just starting to take shape.

The page has had it's first lifeguard club bio added.

It's Poole lifeguards who are tasked with leading the flotilla out of Poole Harbour.

Bournemouth Lifeguards are next on the list as we head East, if you want to know what they do - the bio is now up.

This trip will be led out by Poole Lifeguards and my Highfield Patrol 600.

Today I've added another club Bio to the lifeboat bash (Boscombe), take a look, add a comment, block the diary (10th/11th July) and share

More the merrier to make it the trip of the year.

Hi

It'll be about 80 miles if you run the complete trip - with fuel available at Gosport if needed. I'll be taking an extra can with me to keep it simple.

No reason why you can't join for just part if required.

Whats the launching facilities / provision?
My only experience and knowledge of Pool is training in Orange Rib, unless we could arrange use of their slip on West Quay Road?

People seem to be coming from a range of directions to the start point, some are launching Portland and heading over, others are Poole based or going to launch Solent and meet us on route.

I'll be using Cobbs Quay I suspect unless I run over from Portland on the Friday, other will use Baiter Park - we've not arranged an actual launch site as it'll work better with teh flotilla split between all of them.

If you can arrange access to the big orange one that'll work really well, I was Cowes based when I did my training on the little orange ones.
