Does anyone know what is the easiest way to get to Portsmouth for 2 people, reasonably cheap but not taking 11 hours on the train (which is the best ive found so far.
Cheers

I may have business matter to do in Manchester on Thursday heading south on Friday morning to pick up my daughter and son arriving at noon at Heathrow, so perhaps one way trip can be arranged.
PM me and I will keep you posted.

Fantastic quantity of ribs
What I want to know is : Why such number is not showing up for the LAmpton cruise
We all know the Solent is THE playground for RIBS but there is rib life East of Selsy Bill .
To those undecided ribsters : What are you waiting for "SIGN UP"
Andre
PS : Sorry to highjack this thread to promote the LAmpton cruise

You peeps from 'where be dragons' are well represented on this spin.
And a fair gang of us Solenteers are going East to the beautiful lands of Arun for the later cruise.
It might be safer that way if gArf is out of his TV and whisky-fuelled winter hibernation
Looking forward to seeing ye soon.
(To add :Osprey Viper : Martin & Keran will launch PORTSMOUTH
Add in Leigh with Charlie
And Leeway will be out too from COWES)

This is turning out to be one monster of a cruise! I'll be crewing for DJL I think although will wangle a ride in as many spangly RIBs as possible
I won't be bringing my revision unfortunately (sorry to disappoint!) but will have camera in hand all the way. Very much looking forward to it.
Cheers
Tim

Right this thread just keeps getting longer and longer.
Before we get too carried away can we not agree at meeting place on the Saturday and Sunday?
I`d like to propose 10:00 in the Lightship/Bar/Restaurant in Portsmouth Harbour on the Saturday and 10:30 same place on Sunday.
Anybody disagree or worried about too late or too early? Being completely biased but it gives me enough time to get from London down to Lymington, launch then travel up to Portsmouth. I`m assuming this would give the Chichester posse a similar amount of time too.
Chris

this seems a long way to go towing and then travel to Portsmouth by rib. Why not launch at Chistester with some of the other guys, save time and fuel

We’ve tried to add launch areas (haven’t been too specific as regards which slip/ wharf etc.) Looking at a start time @ 10.30/ 11.00.??? Any strong preferences at this stage? Would nearer high water suit better?
When all launch sites are confirmed we’ll regroup the list accordingly so a mini muster can take place in each area (e.g. Pompey : The Lightship etc.)That way each smaller group can look out for each other. If you get a chance please let us know by pm if your launchsite is incorrectly marked or missing

Just reposted the above Chris (CJL) in case you missed it. Some peeps feel a little later would be better so how would you feel about 10.30 ish?
We tend to try to be punctual but Paul needs time to do his hair and iron his Damarts.
So generally Portsmouth peeps at the Lightship @ 10.30. We meet then with the Wise men (and ladies) from the East i.e. Chi and Lil'hampton.
Then we proceed down the Solent to catch the other groups.
We'll organise the list into relevant groups as soon as everyone has checked their launch sites. The current list is on P. 8 of this thread
Cheers (and thanks Martin and Andre )

Hey its not up to me but I wanted to get things a bit more sorted out. My inbox at work is "xyz has replied to a thread that you have......!"
Plus I might be able to source a few extra boats/mates from Plymouth and Lymington so they wanted times and places. Ten thirty might be a bit better suppose.
Launching--
I`m lauching from Lymington cause the tides seem to work for me and Gosport dries out. Plus if Lymington dries I can leave my boat in the marina FOC till the next day.
Chichester last time was steeper than hell and I'll hopefully have a new car (Four months delivery time on an Audi A3!!!) by then so a new clutch after a week will not impress my boss!
Chris

Steep? What you need is a "very nice man" with a clattery old Rangy to help.

Its strange you mention that.
There was a nice man with a Rangie there but I think you'll agree that without the very nice man my Golf would need a new clutch and gear box after that one!
Thanks again.

I'm still hoping to make the cruise but Bumblebee is still in pieces awaiting the return of her A-frame from the fabricators.
I'm going to try and get the front of the boat back together tomorrow and the A-frame should be back in about a week, but as usual all our uni coursework and projects are running at the same time so I’m going to be really busy.
