Sorry you couldn't get things started Zippy.
Launched at Haslar and met up with Lucky Ribster at the slipway who wished me luck. Thanks mate!
I missed Tim M and crew as I think he had left a little earlier and he text me to say he was half way up the Medina enroute to the Folly (no surprise there
)
Met up with Paul and Richard and had a fairly speedy crossing to Ashlett Creek over by Fawley. There was a typical Solent Chop but managed 30 knotts cruising at a little above 3500 rpm, with a top end of 38 knotts.
Ashlett creek is a lovely looking place, would imagine it might be difficult to find somewhere to park up in the summer months, but a nice pontoon jetty welcomed us. I'll have to get some more stainless fitted as there's nowhere realy handy to tie off to onboard.
After a nice cup of coffee in the club house it was time for the off again. Had a much smoother ride on the journey back and had a little nose around Titchfield Haven Harbour at Hill Head on route back home. We then kinda beach hugged the coastline back home.
I'm really happy with the performance of the hull, there was a little tendancy for the hull to land on the Starboard side when re-entering the water, but I'm sure that with some stategic placement of gear and crew onboard I can eliminate this. The performance of the 150 went really well, but I can't help wonder if I shouldn't have gone for a bigger engine
I guess as I add weight to the RIB the performance might well bleed away and I was hopefull of a 45 knott max speed, a little optimistic me thinks now! I think there might well be a little bit more to come with some tweeks to the rigging, but I guess I'm more concerned about getting a good cruising speed and 30 knotts @ 3500rpm is pretty good.
