If you get to Yarmouth let me know if anything's changed (ie procedures and rules in the harbour). I've not tried stopping anywhere short stay for lunch since before Xmas!

The guidance changed on 12th April. I believe they are now open for short stays. They have quite a good guide on their website.

We headed towards Cowes from SDS but somewhere north of Bramble Bank, my six year old decided that being hit in the face by lumps of Solent was no longer fun so we turned round and headed back in.

I'd hoped an easterly wind and a west going tide would have avoided the worst of the chop but it was pretty bumpy and wet.

Nothing broke, the suspension seats were brilliant and I retrieved a hat so it wasn't entirely a spoiled day.

Based on yesterday at Yarmouth I’d say that for the wind conditions it’s relatively OK.
But given it’s quite windy, and certainly still lumpy, you will get wet.

Hi Trevor
Just looked you up on Marine Traffic and see that you made it to Yarmouth. Well done!
How was it?

It was surprisingly OK - not too choppy, empty in Yarmouth and nice and warm and sunny picnicking by the old railway next to the "off the rails" restaurant.
