Well just got back, was a bit blowy
. Did try to make Wotten or Cowes, but decided to chicken out because one member of my crew was feeling uncomfortable, so turned around and headed to Langston for a cruise around the harbour. We then headed back toward Portsmouth hugging Southsea beach and was much calmer so after watching the Hovercraft launching we tried for Wotten again. Glad we did as just made to Sloop in time for a quick beer before the tide went out.
On the way back up Wotten creek the outboard started to play up and started to mis-fire. Engine off, checked the leg for plastic bags etc around prop. All looked OK! Tried to start engine again and she didn't want to go at all. Checked primer bulb which was softish so gave a few pumps. A couple of attempts to start had her running rough, so gave her a blast on the throttle and things started to look OK again......So don't really know what went wrong there.
On the way back home I hit a wave a little arkwardly and lost my footing, smashing my face into the screen rail
Crew were OK but got a thick lip and wobbly front tooth for my trouble!
And whilst recovering I hadn't realised that the end roller wasn't set properly, it was end on and ended up gouging a trough in the hull, not too bad but I had to lift the hull at the top of the slipway with my hydraulic jack and piece of wood to turn the roller so that it was in the correct position.
So was an eventful day
