if you're planning on clockwise, look out for me from compton round to yarmouth (not sure where i'll be). I'll be out wakeboarding/fishing from about 11-midday.
Have a good and safe trip chaps.

Anyone planning on launching at Warsash?
We will be launching on a low spring, and boatlaunch states this:-
"Very convenient place to launch except at lowest spring tide when there is some mud near water but launching light boats is possible even then."
Was planning on this as a launch site til realised the tides. Comments/experiences appreciated.

I've just caught up with this thread.
Guess I'll have to launch early (at Lymington) and meet you guys at Calshot. Not sure whether it has been mentioned, but are you aware that you will be launching at low water springs (ish)? It will certainly be a physical exercise for me
Agree with all the comments re wind and tide, but there has been no mention of a barbeque. Are we still planning one, or has it been binned? I would like to get the greater part of the passage behind us, before stopping. St. Catherines to the Needles does not really have any useable beaches, so it is then the Western Solent, with beaches such as Alum, Totland etc.
What do we think

Hi Everyone
it will be a very low tide, may be low water springs or very close so launching will be tricky. I will be launching from camber dock with the 4x4 as advised.
plan is to meet at calshot around 9.30 to 9.45 with a plan to leave as near to 10 as possible. allow plenty of time for launching if launching at calshot as it is their busiest weekend of the year apparently.
we can meet on the water just off of the slipway at calshot, you probably wont miss us based on the numbers of folks coming which is great
we will go clockwise round the iow as that seems preferred route due to wind/tide
take a few sarnies for lunch on the way as we will stop and do a proper bbq once we have got round the island as that is the preferred approach of a lot of folks
we are taking a disposable bbq(s) as they are the easiest to carry over such a distance
a bbq on a sheltered beach such as alum or compton or priory or which ever is good from the wind will be best, i have moored off priory but not the others yet so if someone with experience of these beachs can advise when we get there that would be great. soft sand preferred pls.
we have good weather but poor tide times but if you can get your boat in the water then we should have a great day
we have not set any pre determined route or stops and will take it as it comes, anyone with specific knowledge of the varius legs of the route are welcome to lead the pack. we will keep a steady pace to allow everyone to keep reasonably together and will stop to regroup frequently
really looking forwards to the day tomorrow and to meet everyone
chris
PS ...will have with us a selection of the sunglasses from browguard that he has sent down so you are welcome to take a look etc

Job done but would rather a gentle check out run rather than a trip round the island! Couple of other bits and pieces to do as well. Counts me out unfortunately.
Hope you all have a great time.

in chatting with Lurcher the wind is up a bit out there and may be up still tomorrow, he has very kindly offered to have a look out there in the morning and let us know what it is like around the nab
we have two plans for tomorrow
if weather is good and wind acceptable then clockwise round the iow and back to a beach for bbq as planned
if weather is windy and too choppy for some family members etc then we could drop off folks at priory bay to relax on the beach and still take a trip round
the forecast looks reasonable but the wind is the main issue currently as today it is 3-4 gusting 6 apparently, so we are hoping this will drop nicely for tomorrow
will keep everyone posted and see ya at calshot

Just arranged for Steve "top Banana" to meet at my house and travel down from here as he is travelling a long way from up north.
If anyone else needs to travel down from up north etc and want to meet up for a cuppa then drop me a pm or give me a call on the numbers given via pm
cheers
chris

Would like to join you all tomorrow, but we have to work AM, and Bembridge Harbour won't let us out until at least 13.00, so anybody got a mobile number we can ring, to catch up with you all later in the day, or for the bar b q.

Sorry guys, can't make it. Bum*er.
Had my Yam 90 fitted and still having a few configuration issues. Mostly to do with prop size, which has been changed this afternoon, but further testing needed so doing that tomorrow locally.
Hope you all have a cracking time , and get plenty of pictures just to upset all those who don't make it.
Regards
David
