We're going to be out on the new 5.4 for the 1st time. Anyone else going to be around the Solent?

Pics are here-I haven't taken any yet.
Must say a BIG thanks to Matt H for a beautiful boat and a good deal-and for diving straight under my car earlier and fixing the clutch slave cylinder after it gave up just as we were collecting it...

Matt,
I have a PBI course running out of Haslar using my boats, so I won't be out on the Saturday. I will however be out on a PWC (ssshh, don't tell anyone!) and using the 4m searider on my drive for support, on the Sunday, if you're around then too?

Actually, Sunday might not be a bad idea-or even camping for the weekend if it's not too cold.
How come you're using a PWC?

A bit of diversification. Call it personal development - I've done a bit of PWC'ing, and need to keep topped up otherwise I'll get skill fade!
If you're out and about Sunday would be good to tie in, will chat nearer the time?

After talking to Matt we thought we'd come up with something a little different for next Sunday. Bearing in mind the following day is a Bank Holiday we thought we might stay out a little later than usual.
The main aim of the day will be to have a BBQ in Bembridge Harbour on the afternoons low tide. Therefore we land at Bembridge at 1600 hrs with the idea to leave at 2000 hrs. thats 4 hours for food and drink and swapping RIB stories. And also time to look at all those new RIBs that people have been treating themselves to. (Note to ones self, have the BBQ a long way from the rubber boats).
Prior to this we all meet up around lunch time in the area of the the Forts and decide what to do. For those that feel like it a bit of fishing can be done for the supper later and those that want to cruise can decide on where they want to go. And for those that just want to jump waves then they can do that. Basically a free for all but we all meet up at Bembridge for a Barbie in the evening.
Matt and I will take throwaway BBQs you just need to bring a little food. For those that don't know Bembridge there is a small cafe in the Harbour run by the most miserable people in the world (They would fit in well on Last of the Summer Wine) and it stops serving hot food at 1500 hrs. Also there is a nice little pub that serves food all day a couple of streets back but this is out of sight of the boats.
Its probable that most people won't be landing back at their start place until 2100 hrs if they atttend the BBQ because you just won't be able to get out of the harbour.
At the moment the long range weather forecast is good with 17 Degrees C forecast and very light Northerly winds. Obviously subject to change.

Hi Nick,
sounds like things are moving on since we spoke Saturday.
Looks good, and I'll def be out Sunday afternoon.
Making it for the barbie might be a bit of a problem though as have to catch early flight Monday morning, so prefer not to leave so late.
Do they have pontoon moorings in Bembridge harbour for visitors does anyone know?
Thanks
Neil

If anyone can think of somewhere on the IOW thats good for a BBQ, doesn't involve getting wet and doesn't dry out like Bembridge then we would quite happily move location so Neil and any one else who might be stuck for time can join us.
If not how about a meal at the Lightship in the early evening ?
Then we'll save on the Barbie time and have good moorings. Anyone know what time the lightship starts serving again in the evening.
Any ideas welcome to get as many along as possible.
Nick R.

Yep, ditto
Lightship could be a good idea as well. I'm quite happy to go with the flow.
