The only place we'll be going en masse where there's a speed limit is the last few hundred yards up the quay. The 10 knot limit is relaxed from the beginning of October AFAIK...

Participants so far are :- (Anybody is welcome though )
RIBNET NAME: CREW: LAUNCH PLACE: BOAT NAME: MEETING PLACE:
Neil Harvey 2 Crew Total ? ? ?
Neil harvey Poole or Solent ! Vixen ?
.
only one of me coming, not two, but correction for current plan:-
Neil Harvey: 1 crew (2 in total): launch Lymington: Vixen: meet Yarmouth
Ian M - are you planning on launching at the Bath road slip? Just checked it out on boatlaunch and look a good bet.
Neil, I launch at the Lymington Town Sailing Club slip, Bath Road. You can get in and out at all states of the tide (although low water springs can be interesting!), and I've got one of their annual permits. Gets busy in season, but is OK this time of year. No wash down facilities, I'll PM you about parking

Matt,
I've got 17 Degrees and 11 MPH winds for Portsmouth on Saturday.
The days either side promise better. Lets see how it pans out over the next few days. Still 11 MPH isn't too bad in my books. Was a darn site worse yesterday and once you got on top of the waves wasn't too bad. In fact I'll be well happy if its 11 MPH on the day, I'll call that a result.

If the forecast of even just 14 degrees and 11 mph winds come true, I'l be well pleased!
To say I'm looking forward to it is an understatement. Have not been out for about 6 weeks, too long!
Checked the boat over last weekend, all's fine.
Will keep an eye on the board this week for any plan changes but see you all Saturday.
Neil

It's gone now. Sorry-it was meant to make a point not offend.
If we get what's forecast I'll be happy.

It didn't offend. Was just a bit too real. Over a pint I'll tell you a few stories and you'll wonder why I have that attitude.
See you saturday. I've got good feelings about this one. Just need to get that son of mine sorted. Extra training now its half term with regards knots, tieing up and lashing the boat on to the trailer. But thats another story.

Fair comment. I suspect I have a fair idea of what you're talking about.
I've got a good feeling about this one too. I've been playing with my boat all yesterday in the garage

Maybe won't make it on Sat due to daughter playing a cup match for the local team. Cruel as it sounded i was hoping that they didn't make the next round and then Sat would have remained free. Early kick off if we get away we will see you all down there

Final Plan
Okay heres the final plan for this weekends run,
Don't worry if I have missed anybody off or you want to come at the last minute. You are all welcome. The more the merrier. Just try and link up at one of the stopping points or call us up on Channel 77.
Cowes Tides:
LW: 08:32 1.7m HW: 15:27 3.8m
LW: 20:56 1.6m
Sunset: 17:47
Poole Tides:
LW: 08:00 1.3m HW: 11:46 2.0m LW: 20:24 1.1m
Sunset: 17:50
Looks like most of us will be launching at low tide and retrieving as it gets to low tide again.
Charts for reference = Imray – Poole Harbour (Y15)
Average Cruising speed 20 Knots. Dependant on weather conditions and sea state.
1030 hrs all those from the Central and Eastern Solent areas meet off Cowes at Gurnard Black./Yellow Buoy - N50 46.191 W1 18.819.
Fuel is available in West Cowes just south of the chain ferry at N50 45.392 W1 17.550. Exact cost not known but I paid £1.20 per litre last month.
Toilet and coffee stop available next to the Red Funnel Jet Boat landing at West Cowes. N50 45.542 W1 17 559. A landing fee should be paid to the Harbour Master.
If any one needs to refuel etc can they plan to do this prior to 1030 hrs.
For information popular distances to Cowes from the following places are:
Langston Harbour entrance - approx 11 Nautical Miles.
Portsmouth Harbour Entrance - approx 8 Nautical Miles.
Chichester Harbour Entrance - approx 15 Nautical Miles.
Southampton - Itchenor Bridge - 9 Nautical Miles.
Depart Cowes at 1030 hrs and head for Yarmouth keeping to the Island side of the West Solent. Approx distance = 9 Nautical Miles. At 20 Knots this should take less than 30 mins. Arrive Yarmouth 1100 hrs.
Rendevous Point just outside Yarmouth is just west of the harbour entrance at the small craft moorings. N50 42.499 W1 30.269
Here we will break for 30 minutes. Fuel can be gained from within the harbour and also a quick toilet break or snacks can be obtained. There is a short landing jetty next to the refuelling point. As long as we don't mob hand it we should be okay to avoid any landing fees.
Depart yarmouth at 1130 hrs and head for Poole. Their are no intended stops between Yarmouth and Poole.
Distance from Yarmouth to Poole is 18 Nautical Miles. At 20 knots this will take close to one hour. Therefore our arrival off Poole harbour entrance should be 1230 hrs.
Our course from Yarmouth to Poole will follow the following course.
1) Sconce at N50 42.641 W1 31 926.
2) Off NE Shingles at N50 42.052 W1 32 976.
3) North Head at N50 42.744 W1 35.447 Possible meet up with the Poole reception committee from this point on.
4) Off Henigstbury Head at N50 41.512 W1 44.714.
5) Outer limits of Poole Harbour marked channel at N50 39.261 W1 55.147.
Nos4r2 and Poole crowd to provide escort in to Poole.
Hopefully we should all be landed and at the bar at about 1300 hrs.
If we aim to depart at 1500 hrs this should get us back to Cowes about 1700 hrs, including stops for anyone requiring fuel at Yarmouth.
Communications will be via Channel 77 on VHF.
As usual this is a casual cruise; skippers are responsible for their boats and the people on them – RIBnet nor I can not be held responsible for anything that happens. Obviously we will all keep a good look out for each other, and it should be a great day out.
