south coast recommendations wanted

hi folks as its my mrs 60th next year and i dont fancy a 10 hour flight to the Caribbean she mentioned renting a cottage or similar on the south coast and taking the rib down for a week or so .unfortunately i have only experience of heading north to Scotland but she says she would rather have some sunshine and no midges .so basically i am looking for recommendations for either cottages for rent near the water ideally with access to slip ways / pontoon moorings .or even just general areas to be looking or avoiding .thanks in advance for any pointers

There are a couple of cottages at Bucklers Hard, on the green, overlooking the Beaulieu River and a 2 minute walk from the marina.

It's certainly not the quickest access to the sea but one of the most mellow.

The Shipwrights Cottage is the main one.

Another key benefit is that it is almost impossible not to be able to stagger back from the pub.

If it's South this time .....Cornwall would be my recommendation especially for a family ...Many attractions and scenic places within easy reach if the weather is inclement (Two Coastlines to choose if the prevailing winds are bad) .....Somewhere like Falmouth where you could put in for the week has a good slip (if a little busy at times) plenty of GREAT Cruising grounds East or West pluss the large Estuary/River network to explore if you need sheltered waters ....loads of amenities vast choice of accomadtion (and prices) from Hotels to Camping!...Good fishing/Wildlife and mild climate...and generally a nice well kept Town /Sea port.
Book early!!...
I'm off to Lauch the Boat ....now nr Oban ...Bonnie Scotland!
.....Bright Sun!.. and light winds!!

Not yet been but check out Mylor which folks mentioned to me when we were looking pre-pandemic and I checked out in detail. Marina with all facilities and several cottages to rent within yards of the pontoons. Great area for boating.

Few more thoughts to complicate your decision making
IoW - Cowes or Yarmouth - giving lots of ribbing choice
Poole - East & West trips
Brixham - S.Devon coasts & into Cornwall even

Nice problem to mull over

How about an island cottage in Poole Harbour with pontoon berth included?
https://www.roundisland.co.uk/
See the FAQ:
"Your own boat is welcome and we have pontoon berths and swinging moorings for vessels up to 40 ft."
