Cheers Cookee - I will have my kids with me - so it will depend on weather I have any one else there to look after them whilst I'm out as to weather I can get a ride in the race boat. So far no other crew have confirmed they are coming.

On a different subject - does anyone know where the best areas to do things like wakeboarding and towing inflatables are in the solent area. I'm going to be there for 4 days - am planning to be at RIBEX for one of them and going Round the Island for another but that will leave two days of playing around.

Also which day is best to go to RIBEX. I am obviously going to try to save the best weather day for the round the island trip but if its all pretty much the same - which day of the exhibition will have the best stuff going on.

Priory Bay has to be one of the best places.. Tide kinda goes out a long way tho, and then takes ages to get back in.. Loads of sand and rock pools for the kids to play in.. Only drawback, it's popular, and not very sheltered when the wind blows from the North..

Be easy enough for a few of us to head over from Pompey, and make a good day of it..

Thanks for the tip it certainly does look busy on the google earth.

I really hope we get nice weather for RIBEX this year - if we do - who's going to bring the BBQ to Priory Bay then.

One other thing to bear in mind, if your coming from Cowes to Priory Bay, don't go straight across at Ryde, you will need to go out a bit....

It is a great place Roy, my two can't wait to get back there in the summer.. One thing its hard to see from marine charts, is the way it dries out.. The OS map gives you a better idea of the way in..

Roy,

I go off yarmouth and it can be really nice early in the morning/late in the evening when there is no sea breeze. Perhaps you should spend the extra days in yarmouth? There are plenty of B&Bs in the square, or a holiday camp a short walk up the road.

If you need any local help during your stay (ie if you ever need some transport in an emergency or just need a wakeboarding buddy ) then give me a bell, I might not be free the whole time, but may be able to help...I'll PM you my mobile number. I live within a couple of miles of yarmouth.

Cheers

Tim

It was great to see you and banana shark at Salcombe last week. Seeing your boat take off as we left the estuary together was fab.
The boys were seriously impressed (immediate hero status)

Possibly/probably! Can help you out with lunch stop suggestions... mostly tide dependant on the Island side once you're on the south side or in the Eastern Solent.

The first long range forecasts for the RIBEX weekend are now available from metcheck.

Currently looking like its going to escape the rain - just.

It will be interesting to see how this forecast changes over the next 2 weeks as these long range forecasts are pretty useless in my opinion.

If this is going to be the weather we get then my current plan is :-

Friday afternoon - Wakeboarding at Priory Bay followed by beach BBQ
Saturday - Round the Isle of White
Sunday - RIBEX
Monday - Wakeboarding at Yarmouth then recover and head home.

You must excuse Roy, He's a Newkey boy. You're lucky that he got the Isle bit rite, right.
