Tony , Hiya . If the dates and the weather were good I'd come . We have stayed at Neyland a few times , and cruised from Tenby to Fishguard and out to Grassholm and the Smalls. It is glorious cruising around there ( when the sea isn't too lumpy and it certainly can get lumpy ).

hi bern
going down west for a few days next week, most of the time launch at dale, but neyland is good they have a great slip at the yacht club, you can launch/recover with no probs anytime, fuel is available at neyland marina, and also plenty of places to camp if needed.you can also go up the river cledau for a good few miles.will have a good buzz round and report back, might be worth speaking to nyc re parking and trailers they also have a hostel thats not expensive best wishes tony

Update the post when you're ready for it - I'm just down the road and would like to meet up for a bit of a spin. Neyland or Pemb Dock are good to launch from as it's a bit of a spin down to Dale - nice pub though

Tony , There's diesel but no petrol at Neyland . I think you can still get petrol on the waterside at Lawrenny , a bit further upstream , but not at low tides !
Jono Garten organised a bash from there last year I believe so he'll know . Also our " man on the spot " Alex Brown can give you good advice if you have specific questions . Come in Alex !

Petrol stations at Pembroke Dock aren't far from the Hobbs Point pontoon if you are desperate/know someone who can do a shuttle run with cans in the boot of the car.

Sorry, been off the boards for a while so only just noticed this. Sea Drive has been out once this year cos the weather / tide combination on just about every weekend hasn't been right.

I was all set for a fantastic weekend of boating this weekend including the Smalls etc... but seeing the charts has completely trashed those ideas.

When we were out a few weeks back, the sea was like carpet, and out at the islands, all the wildlife was out providing plenty of noise and colour. Didn't see any Dolphins, but there were a couple of Porpoise hovering around about 50metres abeam of us for some of the journey west of Skomer.

Will keep an eye on this thread to see if anything happens

-Alex

I will be staying in the area from 7th to 15th June and will be spending as much time as possible on the water either launching when necessary or leaving the boat in a marina. Hopefully I will be doing some waterskiing, fishing and cruising to the islands. If anyone wants company during this period let me know and we will see if we can get something sorted.
Alex, we did mention this a long time ago, are you looking to get out during this period or are you work bound?

I'll be out on the water perhaps both days this weekend, from around lunchtime onwards.
On Saturday it'll be more interesting on the river cos there are a few displays happening in conjunction with the combined Port Authority and Coastguard open day.... helicopter winching stuff off the big MCA rescue tug + the Svitzer tugs will (hopefully) be soaking as many people as possible too with their fire fighting displays.

Also around in June - I can take a day or so off when required if needed and the weather is good.... just hope it's better than the last weekend which was a wash out.

Alex, I was hoping to launch around 1ish, have you got any more info on the displays, where they will be happening, timings etc. I was hoping to take a few people out for a wildlife cruise to Skomer but the displays could be a bonus. If Saturday goes well I may be back out on Sunday, get in touch over the weekend when you have a firm fix on times you are going to be out there.
