Anyone done this trip?

- How far is it on the water?
- Anything to watch out for?

I've done it!

Can't remember how far it is, but I'd guess 50-60 miles

Watch out for the submarine barrier on the wayout of the Solent, then the only other major challenge is Selsey Bill, You can take the interesting inshore route, or go the long way round. Recent discussion here: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?p=91625

If you're thinking of going that way, how about joining the Littlehampton Cruise? http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=8456

John

In that direction we haven't been further than Littlehampton, but hope to go as far as Brighton in a couple of weeks on Andre's cruise. We would like to go further as well some time... Beachy Head, Seven Sisters... crikey, we could make Belgium, The Baltic, maybe even Russia if we got carried away!

We have done from Bracklesham to Brighton marina but not all in one trip.
As already stated watch out if you go in shore of the Mixon Hole at low tide, water there get less than 0.4 of a metre. The next thing to look out for is the all the divers in Pagham bay on the outer mulberry, this will be easy to spot because of all the dive boats tied up or just plodding around. The next thing is the Bognor rocks, these can break the surface at low tide approx 2 miles off shore. These are straight out from the pier but cover a large area. Apart from these, there will be loads of pot buoys and lines to try and negotiate.
If you need fuel on route it can be got at Littlehampton which would be about half way.
