Ah, thats more like it, and if they are looking for sympathy, well its between .... and ..... in the dictionary.
Just find it difficult to believe you could borrow a very nice rib and abandon it on an island 70 miles from home.

I am not deliberately trying to contradict Mark here, but I gather the parting of the tube from the hull was a bit more serious than that. Mark, would it also be true that in heading back, into the weather, the split might have got more serious.
They also had a petrol deck bladder that I gather burst, spilling petrol all over the deck. I dont suppose this effected their decision to return without the boat as I am guessing the main Revenger tank would be sufficient.
Was Hugo just being a cautious bunny here?

I didn't realise who had lent me their mooring on Sunday. Many thanks for helping all of us out with our impromptu visit to Guernsey
Cheers

A few pictures from the weekend.
As predicted the weather for Saturday was great for making a channel crossing.

Jon Adlard
To all the intrepid Channel Island Cruisers over the weekend.
Great company ,great time, sorry to hear the soul destroying news of the leg Brian. Glad to hear Andy and the boat got back OK.
I'm still aching after the trip back.
Anyway after the late inbibing on Sunday night at the Yacht Hotel at Guernsey, somebody forgot to pay the bill!!!!! As I was the only one to fill in the booking in form I'm getting the grief. Any clues anybody???
Cheers
Jon

Well Jon, it wasn't me that's for sure. But it seems Mark has posted a photo above of some guilty looking culprit. What's he doing BEHIND the bar anyway?

OK Brian, I admit that the photo looks a bit incriminating, but it was'nt me guv, honest to god.
Sorry Jon, can't help with that one cos I know I paid my bill. Perhaps Mr. Lemmer can shed some light on the subject.
Anyway, Cyanide safely lifted ashore yesterday and the leg removed for inspection.
Andy

New leg not available for about a fortnight.
Andy booking his return flight to UK now and will return to Alderney once the new leg has been shipped out there.

The unpaid bill looks like an administration error by the guest house as all parties have receipts.
Jon is going to call the proprietor and as all those who were in the bar late will know that extreme violence is on the cards if its one of us!
Cheers
Mark

Brian
You are correct that the tube problem was developing and needed some attention. But the Revenger was riding well clear of the water during its passage and, in my opinion, would have made it safely back to the Solent.
I suspect that exercise, food and drink, during the weekend, had more to do with not taking the boat home than anything else
Regards
Mark

Glad you guys had a good time, despite the incidents .
Saturday was certainly a good crossing day. Unfortunately, due to the weather vaugeries us 6 Metery people decided on a short crossing to Boulogne instead, scheduled for the Sun/Mon. Sunday, though not as good as Saturday was OK but F5/F6 was forcast for the Monday return in the Dover Straight. As this would have been wind against the spring tide at the time of our return crossing we decided not to go. (It turned out to be 31 mph N/Easterly so it would not have been fun).
Should have done a Sat/Sun to Alderney. Oh well! Next time.

Brian,
So if memory serves, is that a Bravo 3, a Bravo 1 and now a Bravo 2 that you will have had on Cyanide?
I hope the B2 lasts - I've got mine to 47 hours so far (fingers crossed) - although the amount of metal fragments that came out at the early (16 hour) oil change was quite surprising (to me at least).
Good luck with the B2X!!
Dylan...
