Maybe next time then, Wayne! Just to let you know that there are a few of us in East Anglia/Kent with smaller RIBs than you and you'd be very welcome to join us at any time, although in this instance it'll be us who'll be holding you up I for one would be very interested in exploring some of the Suffolk estuaries and there was a thread quite recently from 'Timofengland' suggesting the same so I'm sure we could get a few RIBs together.

Perhaps you could let me know if you're interested in getting something sorted over the next few weeks. Alternatively, we could organise something for summer 2005 just in case you need a tad more notice

Sorted! I'm away this w/end but the Bank Holiday is a possibility for a trip out of Levington.

There's also a few of us planning to go to the Southend air show on our RIBs that w/end so you could join us for that if you like. I'll be in touch. By the way does your email address have two 'r's in it after Wayne?

Wayne, any chance of sharing some of those caps with tim griffin?

Anyway, if you're up for a bit of a jaunt, get yourself down to the South Coast this weekend - see: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4929

suffolk/essex cruise

Hi I have just got my first rib 4.9m and have a 50hp Suzuki. I'm based in Brightlingsea Essex and would really like to meet up with a few other ribbers and explore the waterways (and maybe a few watering holes). Fleixtowe is just a 45 min car ride away from me. Keep me in mind.

Cheers
Keith

What's the tidal access window on the slip at Levington? I say this because I'm really keen not to get up at 0600hrs to get there!

What's the tidal access window on the slip at Levington?

Phil

I have launched both a 7.5metre yacht (with raised keel draught 0.7m) and my rib at all states of tide without any problems, using a car.
They have a steel cable and pulley at the slip if you dont want to use a car on the ramp. Attach one end of cable to trailer and the other to towbar etc.etc.
It helps at low water to have either someone to signal between car driver and person on rib, or walkie talkie between the two, or mobile phones, as we use on hands free ear pieces.

Hope this helps

John

PS That weekend is the Felixstowe regatta based from Levington (Suffolk Yacht Harbour) first race will start from 10.00 so boats will be leaving marina from 09.00, with usually 50-60 yachts competing so it will be very busy, although few if any will be launching via the slip.

Phil, will certainly come along if able to. Have to check what family arrangements may have been made around me. But anything that can be cancelled, put off etc for a better cause......
