Got back yesterday
phew ! 2 weeks and 3 days worth, and only 3 flat days, and one of them had microclimates like you have never seen .. I've said on this forum before about how quick the weather changes up these parts, but this was a good un. Sitting off Priest Island enjoying a show put on by the dolphins for us in our shirt sleeves, in the flat calm and brilliant sun. We were watching a weather system, rolling over our return destination, knowing we had to enter it to get home .. was blowing a 5 - 6 at least as we got in to it, with rain, so hard on the console visibility was next to nil as I tried to make progress back into the bay, engine had to be over trimmed down as the gusts were lifting the bow
as we neared the beach the wind speed lowered dramatically, and we got home no probs, and ofcourse we were tooled up for such an event gear wise
, but to go from such flat idylic sun to that, was a real eye opener
in the space of 1.5 miles
Anyway spent the weeks visting Ullapool, Dundonnell, Aultbea, Inverewe, and Lochinver, when we could make better distance. Below are some pics I thought you might like of a mountain called Suilven, its quite a hill
and from where I see it from my house, you can only see its tip from a whole range of mountains, but when on the way to Lochinver or Stoer it takes on a completely different appearance, and is spectacular
Pic 4 is what I see of suilven from the house
Pic 1 is as you enter Lochinver
Pic 2 is when youre in the harbour
Dolphins were spectacular as always, how they play with you quite hapily just makes my day
.. caught up with a minky as well .. strangely I smelled him before I found him
whale breath ... yuk !
Sorry I missed you bedajim .. perhaps another time soon
And pic 3 is my beach launching rig .. I havent restored this tractor yet, its an original 1961 Fordson super major.
