SW Ribbsters West Cornwall Get together

Hi All
Now I’ve got me boat working (at least on the driveway) I guess its time to prove to you all that I do actually own a RIB by arranging the next SW Rib.nutter get together...

How about a days outing around St. Ives Bay, wave jumping Hayle Bar or North Cliffs, seal watching, wakeboarding etc. followed by an evening meal in the Bucket of Blood Inn?

If anyone would like to stay over Sat night for another bash on Sun I should be able to arrange for all the boats to be stored overnight in a friends car park that is locked and has 24*7 security, but I will have to confirm once we have numbers.

Accommodation wise, there is a new Travel lodge, a Travel Inn, White Hart Hotel and loads of B&Bs in the area.

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_h...l_id/307/Hayle

http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/

Due to the 6 hour window for launching and recovery in Hayle, it would be best to find a weekend that high tide is approx. 12:00-15:00 or stay out over low tide which can be a nightmare if the weather turns cold n wet.

Heres a list of HW times for the weekend over the next month.

HW Time-------Window
Sat 20/5/06 ---11:24 08:24-14:00
Sun 21/5/06 ---12:45 09:45-15:45
Sat 27/5/06 ----18:07 15:07-21:07 (Hugh down Sat Change over day )
Sun 28/5/06 ----18:47 15:47-21:47
Sat 3/6/06 ------10:56 07:56-13:56
Sun 4/6/06 -----11:57 08:57-14:57
Sat 10/6/06 -----17:10 14:10-20:10
Sun 11/6/06 -----17:49 14:49-20:49 Full Moon (Hugh go's home Change over day )
Sat 17/6/06 -----10:12 07:12-13:12
Sun 18/6/06 -----11:10 08:10-14:10
Sat 24/6/06 ------17:09 14:09-20:09
Sun 25/6/06 ------17:55 14:55-20:55

Cant do any later in the year than this as the Mrs is expecting out first born on the 13th July

Firstly congratulations Shaggy, another SW Ribber on the way!
That trip sounds like a great day out, I can do any of those dates except the 27th & 28th May due to the Whitsun rush.

Question : What do we do with our RIBs whilst we have dinner in the Bucket of Blood? I'm a bit worried about leaving my RIB any where near Hayle of an evening.

Sat 20/5/06 ---11:24 08:24-14:00 Window starts too early
Sun 21/5/06 ---12:45 09:45-15:45
Sat 27/5/06 ----18:07 15:07-21:07 This will potentially clash with Ian Parkes Trip to the Scillies
Sun 28/5/06 ----18:47 15:47-21:47 This will potentially clash with Ian Parkes Trip to the Scillies
Sat 3/6/06 ------10:56 07:56-13:56 Window starts too early
Sun 4/6/06 -----11:57 08:57-14:57 Window starts too early
Sat 10/6/06 -----17:10 14:10-20:10 Was thinking of shooting up the coast to dartmouth to join the Biboa Ribs this weekend
Sun 11/6/06 -----17:49 14:49-20:49 Was thinking of shooting up the coast to dartmouth to join the Biboa Ribs this weekend
Sat 17/6/06 -----10:12 07:12-13:12 Window starts too early
Sun 18/6/06 -----11:10 08:10-14:10 Window starts too early
Sat 24/6/06 ------17:09 14:09-20:09 Window finishes a bit late to still get food
Sun 25/6/06 ------17:55 14:55-20:55 Window finishes a bit late to still get food

Guess that leaves the Sunday as favourite day for me

Its not that bad here... well ok just a little then, but is fairly safe in the Car Park, they have 24 * 7 security and me mates house is right infront of the car park, Ive left me RIB there quite a few times but there again who would want to nick mine .

I should be able to arrange for the RIB's to be kept in a locked car park whilst we eat and over night if you want.

We could meet for food on Sat Evening and then head out on Sun 21st.

Shaggy

How about we arrange the Ribs in a circle in the Lidl's carpark, have a fire in the middle and sleep on the floor under blankets. I'll bring the Winchester.

Hayle to Padstow is actually a fair old schlep with the kind of swell that we get on the North Coast.

Not far really - getting down from Milford to Padstow (don't forget the other 100miles or so above Milford to North Wales!!) is approx 70nm into the swell - Hayle to Padstow is with the swell

I was wondering about trying to visit Lundy sometime this year if the summer ever arrives. Looking at the charts for the week ahead, the lows are still dwindling around, so it doesn't look like the swell is going to drop much unfortunately

If you can get it round more to the quarter, you can save some fuel and do some surfing on the way there

We were doing around 18knots at 1500revs on Saturday for about 10 seconds, didn't quite manage to hold it though which was annoying.

I shall try and make an effort to get out of Pembrokeshire this summer, whether it be by trailer or water.

don't judge all us south west ribsters by that pussy alice - some of us are prepared to go out in conditions below 20 deg c and with a greater than 5 knot wind and as for the swell - BRING IT ON

I categorically refute that last comment. It's well known in these parts that I'll venture forth in all conditions, as long as it's July or August and not so breezy as to make it tricky lighting my BBQ. And, Mr Cruse, kindly leave my pussy out of it!

Its approx 30 nm from here, the "Ground" swell (the big stuff) we get is any thing from SW to N + any wind swell on top so it can get v nasty out there.
