The big charity downwinder

I'm hoping to take part in an event in the ocming few months along with Chris from lazy Blue Skies photogrpahy ( who did our round the island pics) who has ties with watersports people and companies ....

The Big Charity Downwinder is the first kitesurfing and fundraising event of its kind. Pro kitesurfer and Snow-Camp supporter Lewis Crathern is working with us to make this event a huge and World Record breaking success. For the Big Charity Downwinder we are hoping to bring together as many kitesurfers as possible in September to do 2 things:

a) Set a new World Record for the ‘Largest Parade of Kitesurfers’ ever seen on the planet at 250 but we currently believe we will field 400 and maybe even 500!!!

b) Complete a fundraising downwinder from Hayling Island to Lancing – to raise as much money for Snow-Camp and the RNLI as possible

The BIG Charity downwinder as I understand it is looking to establish a new record for kitesurfing etc etc a dn as such is looking for support/ safety boats - however to kite surf they want it to be windy ! - So its a little more weather depandant than our usual RIB type gatherings ...

Essentially I'm trying to estabish if we can guarantee at least ten boats for safety cover then they can pay you your costs.....

Most of what you need to know is on the facebook page but I am happy to answer any questions. Looking to raise about £100k for charity. If RIB NET do want to join us then we are open ideas to raise anythng possible .

Big Charity Kitesurfing Downwinder 2013 « Snow Camp

Its a bit of water that some use regularly , but from what I can gather one that a lot of us don't use very often ...so a but of the south coast that can be 'ticked off' as having been done !

Hi Pete

Well done on getting involved with Chris.

How about a big Parker, which can be used for safety cover, camera platform or VIP shuttle

Regards
Steve

Thanks guys - if we can get to at least ten firm commitments I can move this on . as always with these wind related things the date is all down to the weather - which I have explained to Chris can tend to impact peoples ability to 100% commit .....

Also worth noting that Northern Exposure Rescue are working on this - might be worth talking to them.

Happy to help out, but not sure that I will be in the UK. I think the best that I can say is keep me in mind. Understand if you have enough support.................
