Spoke to Maximus re Bryher and he said that he's been a few times before and it's nice and sheltered for the boats, loads of space at the camp site and a good pub near by. Also there is a tractor to ferry us from the slip to the campsite
How does this sound? Shall we book?

Just realized how close you are I work in knutsford agree towing distance is a real chore keep technohull in Poole normally as do channel hops etc cobbs quay where I keep it are great and I am still looking at a sea run verses towing to Plymouth as it could be a good run plenty to see etc

Bryher is a good island. Wild Atlantic on one side calm sheltered turquoise water on the other. Rowed a gig over there from St Mary's during the Gig rowing Championships. Good pub there and if you get bored tender over to Tresco and go in the New inn good food in there but a little expensive. Many good eating holes out of Hugh town too.

After reading some of the threads ref towing. Falmouth is a good slip to use it costs £11 to launch £18 if you leave your trailer there. There are many roads to park a car and trailer on within 10 mins max of the slip.
I use it all the time you can use it at all states of the tide except very low spring tides.

Sadly I can't come on the trip (maybe next year!), but can recommend the camp site at Bryher. We made use of their facilities last year whilst anchored in Green Bay, and a friend who was born on the islands has been camping there every year for the past 20 years!
If you don't mind taking the ground, Green Bay is a superbly protected anchorage for most conditions. Failing that there's visitors moorings owned by the Tresco Estate between Bryher and Tresco, which incur a daily charge (£15ish I think).
An easy dinghy ride (or even swim!) between Bryher and Tresco, just watch out for the high speed passenger ferries that don't appear to slow down... Tresco Stores has most provisions you might want, although at slightly elevated prices. Between Fraggle Rock and Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher, the various places who's names I forget on Tresco, and all the honesty boxes around, food shouldn't be a problem!
Look forward to seeing some photos!
