Third Annual N.W. Ribsters Christmas Cruise......
.........all comers welcome. Starting point Pwllheli.
It's about that time of year again when I give thought to the North West Ribsters Annual Christmas Cruise.
Based upon the success of Jono's recent efforts (what a turn out, 12 RIBS) I'm sure many will be back.
The usual dates are in the pot for discussion, two consecutive days starting 27th December - 28th - 29th - 30th - 31st. Majority interest will assist in dictating which two days will be chosen.
Your preferences please. In the meantime I'll give thought to the itinerary and revert.

We would definitely be interested in attending this one. We would be available on the 29th, 30th or 31st December.

Can't make Christmas this year I'll be trying to break a leg skiing in Austria.
Don't forget Jono's Calendar for NW Ribsters see this thread http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11391

Can we make an executive decision for the 28th then? as the diarys getting full.
Also on the 29th a few of the rib net shooters wil be clay shooting at Dovey Valley near Aberdyfi, if anyone wants to join in, cheap day, dont worry about bringing a gun if you dont have one, it does help if you can use a gun though.

OK - Due to the fact.........
.........that two of the N.W Ribsters founder members (Jono Gorton and P D) are only avaliable on the 28th and nothing to do with the fact that the use of Jono's orifice - launching slip and Seamanship skills are greatly required - it looks like Wednesday 28th December is the day. In addition Ian Greenwood AKA - Peninsular RIBS is having a bash on the 29th so he would not be avaliable either, makes the 28th the best day for most.
Initial thoughts then turn toward a cruising course and unless otherwise objected too I suggest, based upon tides and DOG we launch at 09:30 from Jonos place with the objective being Porth Dinllaen on the opposite side of the peninsular.
This course would take us past Abersoch, St Tudwal's Islands into Porth Neigwl, Hell's Mouth (Big Surf), Aberdaron Bay, through Bardsey Sound and around the tip of the Lleyn. On then to our destination where for those in the know we can alight and enjoy refreshments at the Ty Cock pub in the shelter of the bay.
I'd say the round trip would not exceed 60nm however, factoring in stops, weather and WOT blasts one should account for a 100nm day.
Please confirm (that means I'm defo coming P D and not just saying yes for the sake of it) if you can make it.

Hi MeMe
Thanks for the welcome, If you could let us have some more info I'll be there. "Deffo" only prob is I am quite new at ribbing, if you think I may slow you all down, or get in the way, due to not being as experianced as you all seem to be, I'll sit this one out. but am very keen to learn, (Ive come from sailing to RIBs) so I know some bits Thanks

Experience.......
..........only comes from "experience" and there's no better way than getting some miles under your belt than in a group of experienced Ribsters such as the N.W Ribsters. Just meke sure you're well prepareed with the right safety equipment, a well serviced craft, some warm clothes - plenty of fuel and a hot flask of coffee. For additional information on all aspects of Safe, Comfortable and Enjoyable Ribbing this is the Forum to find out what's required.
I will confirm more details in the very near future but in the meantime, we look forward to seing you.
