Thurs 27th Dec and Sat 29th - Solent Runs

I'm bored already!
So...
I'm intending having runs out from SDS tomorrow (27th Dec) and Saturday (29th Dec) to give Black Adder some sea hours after having work done on the fuel system.

Quite possibly to Yarmouth and / or Lymington - but open to suggestions if anyone else is out and about.

"Jurgen the German" (Bushrider on here) may well be out with us on Saturday as well for a change but he has to get here from Russia via Germany first, so this might change at last minute!

Your not wrong, I can only cope with so much Xmas tv, festive food and kids!! Lol
( I’m actually sneaking out for a few hours tomorrow to tinker with one of the boats ). What did you find wrong with black adders fuel system?

Sadly I've been out Sun/Mon/Tues/Wed between Poole, Swanage and Hengistbury, but heading back to London for work tonight and then off to Moscow at the weekend, so just pulled the RIB back onto it's trailer. So afraid I'll miss this and the Nachos.

Have a great time on the water - this morning was wonderful, still calm and quiet with asomedecent sunshine.

It's a bit of a long story - but I think the main problem might have been from inadvertently using BioDiesel in an engine that really doesn't like it - causing problems with injectors, fuel lift pump, fuel regulator, fuel metering valve and the exhaust gas temp sensor.

Trouble is - it may have been all or just one of the above items, but a bugger to know which one!

I don't think it's mandatory for marine fuel pontoons to specify if the diesel is Bio or not, and of course at many times if you need diesel, not buying what they have in the tank isn't really an option!

I'm going to have to do some homework on this to try and prevent it happening again.

Trev - you are telling that you never know whether you get normal diesel or bio crap at the fuel pontoon ???
Scaring ..

The situation is always going to be uncertain. One thing you CAN be sure of is that you WILL always be using SOME biodiesel as it is currently mixed through ALL main diesel supplies. In light if this, I would advise using a decent biocide in your tank as biodiesel (in the presence of water) is particularly prone to diesel bug. After that, good filtration makes sense, to catch any "clots" coming through. Apparently the food industry is the source of a major part of the UK biodiesel supply - so when you're drifting off the Needles with the lump turning, don't be surprised if you think you can smell fish & chips...

In Germany starting from 1.12. the sale of biocide diesel additives to private individuals is forbidden by law ..

Well, I understand that there is a certain, shall we say, uncertainty surrounding diesel in Germany - I'm sure you'll sort something out...

Well, good luck with that plan: "In Germany, the minimum percentage of biodiesel in transport diesel is set at 7% so called "B7"."

Yes .. sad enough ..
Diesel "can" contain up to 7% bio
With petrol is the same story

Jurgen will be there earlier (He's still on Russian time so will get up and get to SDS early) but he wants to do a bit of work on the boat 1st.

I'll be aiming to get to SDS at probably around 10, but want to swap props before launching if I get time.

Mike D in Watershed will be leaving Lymington about 10.30 heading for Calshot, then hopefully we'll meet up and head to Yarmouth for lunch.

That's Plan "A".

Have a top day chaps ,you've got 3 boats heading over from Poole for cheesy crisps
My boat is still in with Nugent and the chap I was thumbing a lift off has a chest infection

I'm keeping an eye on these threads a bit more now so will hopefully catch up later next year
