Noticed some fish farming stuff about half way when we did Lyme Regis to Brixham last August. Electronic chart was out of date so didn't show up, now sorted.
Glad we didn't run into it during the night.

Yes thanks, I noticed these last year too - over 2 quite large areas.
Wasn't sure whether it was fish farming (what fish?) or some scientific study / environmental trial. There's a smaller one between Maidencombe and Shaldon to - closer inshore.
Not exactly sure what they are, but will avoid!

Had good run to Lyme, overcast, slght seas, then flattening. Cut straight back across Lyme Bay at 30kt + bit of wave jumping. c.9 miles offshore at furthest point from land. Return leg just 1 hour!

They are mussel beds ............ under each large black buoy is a mussel tower cage that the mussels grow on.

Makes sense. They are quite a way out, I thought mussels were more estuary / inshore farmed.
