Would have to say try the Boatlaunch web site for a launching site.

If you want to get through the Barrier you need to give them a VHF call on 14 and ask permission from London VTS.

They will give you a barrier span to go through. Make sure you clearly explain if you are going uptream or downstream as this alters which span you need to head for.

Check with London VTS that the Barrier is not in defence position before you set off by listing to the river broadcast on Ch14 every 15 mins.

Make sure you know which span is which because they are not labeled. First time i made this trip they replied by saying "proceed ECHO span" and ofcourse i carried on looking for a sign, only to have to stop and consult the almanac before proceeding. They are labeled A-H or something but i can't remember which side is A.

Can I register an interest as well. No issue with any of the dates, but would prefer a Saturday to a Sunday.

Thanks.

Putney Bridge Lauch Site

Have I correctly located the launch site on this arial photo? On the south bank, sideways on to the river, just upstream of the road bridge?

Can I ask where you park your car and trailer, do you just have to find a space on the street somewhere?

I would love to come on this trip but may have to take nipper to start university that day. I hope you post full details after the event because I would like to follow in your footsteps (should that be wake) one day.

Regards,

Peter.

I will be there on the 1st Oct.

Yes, there is a public slipway where your arrow is...but there are two much bigger and better upstream (west) of the jetty that you can see. about 200 yards away.

Dump the trailer on the street where all the others are and you will have no problem, and either park the car on the street and feed the meter...or under high tide mark (free) on the slipway..(making sure you've checked the time of the high tide.
