As self appointed trip leader I propose the following outline plan for the weekend.

Saturday
=======
08:00 Depart from Falmouth
10:30 Depart from Penzance
13:00 Re-fuelling at Sibleys in Hugh Town

Then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Gugh, St Agnes, Annet, The Western Rocks, Bishops Rock and finally Sampson. Before heading off to find the morings and campsite and having a fantastic BBQ.

Sunday
=======
Exploring Bryher, Tresco, St Helens, Tean, White Island, St Martins and Finally the Eastern Isles. Then either heading into the stretch of water between Tresco and St Martins for some towing or the Mermaid on St Marys for some pints depending on conditions.

17:00 Depart the Scilly Isles
19:00 Arrive Penzance
21:00 Arrive Falmouth

Slight variations may include :-

1. Do we want to take in Wolf Rock and/or Seven Stones on the way out or the way back - or stick with the straight line route

2. Ive not planned lunch or toilet stops anywhere.

3. Do we want to land on any of the islands and do some land based sight seeing

Any other suggestions...

After re-fuelling would it be a good idea to dump all camping equipment at camp site before exploring?

I was thinking about this - and if we are all running round with stuff rattling around in our boats it might be a good idea to set up camp first. However we will have to have all the stuff with us during the day on sunday anyway - so i figured it wont make much difference.

Ill ring the campsite and the moorings again and see if there is a prefered window for us to check in.

I rang Henry the Habour Master yesterday, he said first come frst served for the moorings, there are 22 I didnt ask about rafting up on em though they can get funny about that sort of thing.

does anyone know how organised they are there.

for instance if we turn up at mid day and pay for 3 morings to put our boats on (assuming they let us raft up) whats the chance of them still being there later bearing in mind we are off blasting round the islands all day - i get the impression that you just turn up - grab a bouy and he comes round in the evening or morning and collects the money.

Im a bit worried about going there first paying for moorings and finding them gone when we get back anyway.

it turns out that these scilly residents are the most laid back friendly and helpful people you will ever meet.

henry has just popped out and reserved us 3 moorings right in front of the campsite. he has no problem with us rafting up on them and they will cost £13 each.

the campsite said we can turn up any time - and we can even leave our tents there all day on sunday if we want. this opens up the idea of going straight to bryher and off loading all the kit and setting up camp before we go island exploring then leaving the kit there during the sunday and returning just before we leave to pack away. this means no unescesray carting around of bbqs and cool boxes during the exploration of the islands. here's the catch though - camping is £7.50 per person including children over 3 years.

so slightly modified plan

Saturday
=======
08:00 Depart from Falmouth
10:30 Depart from Penzance
12:30 Set up camp
14:00 Re-fuelling at Sibleys in Hugh Town

Then spend the rest of the afternoon exploring the Gugh, St Agnes, Annet, The Western Rocks, Bishops Rock and finally Sampson. Before heading off to find the morings and campsite and having a fantastic BBQ.

Sunday
=======
Exploring Bryher, Tresco, St Helens, Tean, White Island, St Martins and Finally the Eastern Isles. Then either heading into the stretch of water between Tresco and St Martins for some towing or the Mermaid on St Marys for some pints depending on conditions.

16:00 Pack up camp
17:00 Depart the Scilly Isles
19:00 Arrive Penzance
21:00 Arrive Falmouth

sticky problems

Hi all Scilly go`ers

I need some help,after last night out with shaggy I Found out GPS(NO FIX) + No Nav Lights + Depth/Fishfinder(TRANSPONDER NOT CONNECTED).

Ive found out prob` with lights(re wire)in the process of repair.

Ive believe Ive found gps prob its the swaged fitting/connecter that goes on the gps unit from the antenna.Can u buy d.i.y fits or do u have to replace complete lead.
The depth/fishfinder have no idea transponder is connected under deck cable.
Appreciate any help

Spare Rib

Andy
Shaggy

Anyone got a Raymarine GPS/Chart plotter that has a TNC screw in connector on the back?

Sticky needs to prove if its the chart plotter GPS antenna or the connector that is at fault.

considering the number of boats going I wasn't even going to bother the coast guard - I only ever file passage plans for solo trips.

but that's me - you should do whatever you feel comfortable with.

if someone really is concerned about all of us becoming in need of assistance simultaneously then I suggest you gather all the info up and report the trip only once. its a pain when going to the scillies as you will be out of radio range of the coastguard when you get there so will have to telephone your safe arrival notification through.

if someone really is that paranoid I suggest you volunteer for the task as I can't be arsed...

just bear in mind as a group weve got more rescue power than the coast guard could get out to us anyway
