UK Challenge 2004. The return to Scotland.
Hi, Some of you may remember a Fire Service charity event last year called the UK Challenge where an oppo and myself attempted a complete circumnavigation of the UK and Islands in a single engined Rib calling at all 47 Fire Authorities with coast on the way. You can read our diary at [URL=http://]www.uk-challenge.co.uk
Despite being dogged by appauling weather we more or less did it too , had an amazing / terifying 2249NM and raised over £5400 for Charity to boot.
This years Challenge is to return to Scotland in the same 5.6m Osprey and finish the 700 odd miles we had to miss due to gales.
We leave Oban on the 20th May and will be calling at Tobormoray, Mallaig, Portree, Stornaway (Lewis), Thurso, Stromness and Kirkwall in Orkney before heading south to Wick and Inverness and closing the circle via the Caladonian Canal. Fair Isle and Lerwick would be nice but having nearly killed ourselves last time we wont be going in anything less than a perfect "high".
If anyone is interested, the website has been updated for this years event (same address)and we will once again be running a daily diary. Please feel free to have a look and see what you think. Check out the Charities and our sponsors too.......we couldnt have done it without them.
Cheers Phil
NB, Anyone got a large or diesel RIB they arnt using for 10 days in May?.......think ours might bve strugling this time. It IS for charity!
