Lol, the best bait that I have found for long is to cut the white bits from the underbelly of a mackerel, long thin strips to make it look like a Sandeel. Good luck, they're a great fighting fish 👍🏾

Well! Good day had by all. Fished a couple of marks, Robin Hoods bay, a couple of wrecks & the lighthouse south of Whitby. Blanked for the first couple of hours, not a sniff. Then BAM an hour before HW the Mackies were coming in 4-5 at a time. We had 28 in half an hour & called it a day as we had enough for our needs. A quick gutting session & poste haste back to Pikey HQ. Within minutes the smoker was on, 20 min later we had a dozen perfectly smoked fishies. The rest went on the BBQ. The neighbours were on stand by with salad & spuds & soon 10 folks were tucking into a top fish supper.👍
Just chucked the last ones out at 01.45, handsome 😄

The long range wx for next weekend is looking good at the mo. Might have another trip out. HW is 0815, so should be able to launch until around 1045, sit out LW & recover about 1600.

We had a quiet session Saturday, only two mackerel so sounds like you did a lot better than us! We spent most of the rest of the time buzzing other boats from the village, checking out ferries etc.

Yesterday was good fun, we spent a couple of hours wakeboarding and checking our pots on the way in resulted in a lobster which made for a nice starter.
