Just back from the smoke, wondering whether to get the boat ready, any thoughts?

We have slightly adjusted the plan!

It is possible benc will no longer joining us (shorted battery) but we are hoping he can get it fixed in time.

Owing to the weather, and a general view that more time spent in a nice warm pub having food is a good plan, we will be altering course for the folly on the Medina, just past cowes.

So, the plan is now:

1700 Launching at camber
1730-1800 Pompey/Southamptoners Rendezvous at Rising Sun, Warsash
1800 Leave from rising sun, Warsash, heading towards Cowes
1830-1845 Rendezvous with others just off Cowes & head for the folly!

The University 4.8m Ribcraft will also be joining us!

Jimbo,

Sorry mate the current wind reported from bramble banks:

http://www.bramblesmet.co.uk/default.shtm

is saying F5 to F6 and being SW its hitting you almost head on as you cross the solent. Not the best conditions for an evening play, and although I like it rough, Ricky and myself will not be out.

We will be out on Monday watching the Volvo Ocean Race.

Thanks for trying

No probs Andy.

See you out there Monday - Greyhound is marshalling for the Volvo stuff so don't come too close

Mm, yeah. Bramblesmet and the others haven't actually updated since 11am, but www.isleofwightweather.co.uk confirms it's a little fresh out there.

I think we've revised our plan to the point where the 2 ribs I have to get to Southampton (Greyhound and UPSC 1) we are going to launch about 1630, and just get straight over there.

Sorry chaps!

Guys,
Been to the folly one or two times already this year, so not too keen. I think I am just going to have to make do with sailing round the Greek Islands for the next two weeks
Next time
Ian

Cheers buddy, it certainly was. Greyhound had very little trouble (other than a broken radar reflector!) but the 4.8m Uni rib was struggling against the rollers!

Back safe and sound, was a great experience, but certainly not reccomended for a fun family cruise!

Went out with Benc on Intrepid (lovely boat) and Southampton Water was really flat and out by Calshot Spit there was a slight chop. We left Drivers at about 9 and got back about 10.15. Hopefully it will stay like that all weekend!
