2009 - Be glad when it's over!

Can't wait until this year is over now.

Following yet another enforced job change earlier in the year(3 in 4 years), having to change Mrs Nashers car and the gearbox woes with the Outboard engine, the year has ended a bit rough.

As if £2500 for the Shogun Clutch and flywheel wasn't bad enough last week, our central heating and hot water boiler has given up today and we're waiting to find out how much a new PCB will be, if they can get one for a 15yr old boiler. Mean while we're sat in big jumpers and not looking forward to boiling pans for all our hot water.

As an extra Bonus I went out to the shed a while ago and found the recent wind has ripped the felt of the roof and everything is wet inside.

Oh Bugger is all I can think of.

Nasher.

Strangely we've never really had a problem with the electricity supply here in Clanfield until about a month ago.
Over the last few weeks we've had at least one power cut a week, Mostly for just a couple of minutes, but two Saturdays ago it was for a few hours.

Heating engineer has just called.
£155 for the PCB, which is only a bit more than what I found, and another £75 for labour, plus of course the VAT.
Can fit it tomorrow morning though.

On the bright side, I'm getting this, and had the car done, before the VAT increase on Saturday.

Thats where I ended up, and could have got it for an awful lot less than what it's going to cost me in total.
However Mrs Nasher draws the line with me mucking about with the gas, despite me saying it's not a problem etc, so I've got to go with an expensive engineer. At least we'll have it back up and running before lunch tomorrow.

I can't believe I've had to pay two tradesmen to do jobs I know I could do myself, but as mentioned the boiler is out of bounds as far as Mrs Nasher is concerned, and the £200 labour the car cost didn't seam too bad compared with laying under the car on the drive struggling for hours on end in this weather.

And I thought it was bad luck having to buy 4 new tyres for the car - getting them on Thursday morning to save 2.5% VAT

I asked, as Valiants are renown for blowing PCBs, which are simple, but very expensive to replace.

Thanks for all the kind words

The guys came back at lunchtime today and fitted a new PCB to the boiler and it's all working fine now, so fingers crossed we'll get through the rest of this year with no more hassle.
