A blast from the past!

I was googling last night and found this:-

My dad's old yacht

Probably not of any interest to anyone here but what the hell-I'm in a good mood now and thought I'd share what I found.

She's the one I was 'cast adrift' on in Cherbourg marina age 14... Also the one we crossed the channel in 8 gusting 10 on the nose.

If she hadnt' already been sold and I had the cash I'd be after her.

Great looking yacht - looks like a bargain. Would much prefer it to the French or German mass produced lumps of plastic people seem to buy these days!!!

Oh. Alright, I'll come clean. It was built in Japan.

She sails like a dog anyway - we've done a few corporate days on her and found her to be a total waste of space - boring as hell.

However, we just met a chap from Pindar at the Boat Show - they're chartering out their old Volvo 60; that should be quite a good fun lump of plastic!

Well I know what he means... All angular and look like they've been cut out with a ruler. Usually sailed by someone called Tarquin D'Ouanker.

Exactly - mass produced stuff that has loads of room down below at the expense of any form of character or composure in a rough sea.

I don't mind the hulls being made of plastic - it's when the insides look like one of those French pubic toilets.....

Pop - yes please! We run a fair few big corporates from Haslar Marina, and have to say we were not all that impressed with France 2.

I delivered a nice yacht down from Sheerness earlier in the year - Chieftain. Her boat captain trained the ABN AMRO 1 team - you may have heard of Chieftain, she's been winning most things!
