I just wanted to mention that I frequently get emails from two parties is the UK...
The barristers representing Maggie Thatcher's husband's estate write frequently. Apparently, I did something very nice for him some time in the past, and I will be handsomely rewarded as soon as I forward my banking info!
The second email comes from the Queen's Office (it's a little vague which department, or even Queen for that matter...) but regardless, as recently as yesterday, they offered me 325,000 pounds sterling (whatever that is!). I'm not sure what I did to warrant this, but once again, all I need to do is send my banking info. and the money will be deposited "with all possible haste!"
Me thinks that someone over there thinks we Colonials have only recently fallen off the punkin' cart!
It's hard to imagine that anyone would actually respond to this sort of thing, but a few years ago, a businessman in Burlington, Ontario (I believe he ran an insurance brokerage) responded to one of these "ex-Foreign-Minister-to-the-King-of-someplace" appeals to smuggle funds out of the country. If I recall correctly, he got stung for about $75,000 CDN! Duh...
