Nice rifles, which version have you ordered?

I have a Tx200HC in an early mk3 stock.

It's a standard mk3 I wanted accuracy the extra barrel length provides and slightly easier cocking of the spring by having a longer lever. I've ordered the beech stock but liked the oak as I couldn't justify the extra cost. Comes with a 4-12 x 50 scope with illuminated scope hairs.

Air Arms make good rifles. I used to have a Theoben Eliminator. Crows and squirrels hated it.

You're going to have to come bunny stalking up here Andy-once I find out if I still have permission for the 3 places I used to use.

I've been looking for an excuse for ages.

Really love to go hunting! Something I've wanted to do ever since I picked up an air rifle 35 years ago.

It's fun, though I rarely used to get anything-my mate was too loud and wouldn't shut up.

Picked my new .22 Air Arms TX200 yesterday. I must say I'm blown away with it's performance, fair enough I haven't had anything to compare it with for 30 years but it's left me extremely impressed.

I'm turning the side of my house in to a 10m range. I know it's not long, but it's all I have to play with at home and will be looking at joining a club soon. I placed two sheets of 1/4" ply that I sourced at work one behind each other to make 1/2 and hung them on my side gate then screwed a target holder to it.

The Gun was part of a package bought from Protek Supplies outside of Bognor, they seemed like a friendly bunch and although they didn't advice on the rifle which I already knew I wanted, did advise on the scope and supplied me with a 4-12x50 Nikko Stirling Mountmaster with cross hair Illumination. I also bought some AA fieldmaster pellets and a cheap case. I'm not too sure
on the case front as it's a tight fit with the scope and a little awkward to carry using the handle and the strap is plasticy and looks like it won't last long. Still it's some protection and it did have pockets which the others didn't have.

Back at home, I thought I'd have a go at zeroing the scope. Target placed in holder and comfortable position adopted. Cocked ,loaded, aimed and bang! What a lovely trigger action! pellet missed the target and hit the ply. On closer inspection it had gone though both bits on ply and dented my gate. Not really what I had in mind! I'll have to source some thicker wood.

About 30 pellets though the gun and sight was zeroed, or at least it'll do for the time being. The rear of the target holder and pellet trap looks rather sad and might need beefing up like the wooden back drop, still a thicker plate in the back will do the trick.

First impressions for what it's worth are very positive, the safety button to enable the breech to be closed didn't pose much of an issue once I found a technique with the pellets placed to the left of me I got in to a bit of a rhythm. My Son kept reminding me to unlock the safety which I kept forgetting to do and was also overjoyed when he squeezed off a few rounds (denting my side gate once again). The Illuminated cross hairs is an inspiration, especially when it started to get dark. I think I prefer green over red but red might come in handy for night times should I get a chance.

Nice one Andy, I had the tx200 mk1 around 20 years ago and it was great. I'll have to look up how to make a target box for you if its still on line

if you are using two sheets of ply and the pellet is going through, dont worry about getting a thicker piece, just have a gap between the two youve got - that should do the trick.

Angle the plywood so that the pellets are deflected down rather than beefing up ! This will avoid pellets bouncing back & also make the material last a lot longer.

I think this is the type of trap that can be made at home, if you make it A4 size you can download and print targets off the internet

Improved Silent Pellet Trap

They use a 'ballistic putty' which is basically plumbers non setting compound.

At the back of the target you need a steel plate covered with a piece of carpet and then smear your non setting compound on about an inch thick. It's even safer if you angle it down.

For the front of the target use a wooden clipboard

For more info search for 'silent pellet trap'

All great info guys!

That pellet trap on the link Whisper looks too good for shooting at

I'm going to source some carpet and make a sandwich of carpet and ply, that should work. It's only for stray pellets anyway as i don't want my side gate peppered with holes and certainly don't want any RIB damage which is behind the gate

I may need this info if I ever decide to get a gun; by that time everything will have been banned here in the US. Heck, by that time, they'll probably want you to register pellet guns too.
