America's Cup

We were going down to Portsmouth tonight to watch the America's Cup practice tomorrow, but weather forecast is awful for the area- and we don't want to fork out £150 in fuel & B&B and to spend a day in heavy rain on Southsea Common seeing - or not seeing the 12ms

Still,on the bright side, the money saved is more ribbing fuel and some meals out

RIBase
Is it worth going down to watch from the shore ? Or will I need a large wodge of cash and a telescope ?

Id like to take some pictures of them close up, say in the Marina, as I know out in the Solent I'm likely to need a gigantic lens.

The public viewing area is Southsea common - all free tickets for Sat / Sun now gone - we tried to get some this morning & move the trip to Sat

I think there are some posh tickets £40+ left

Not sure if there'll be other viewpoints you can reach to observe - they're getting quite smart about making viewing from other than authorised place difficult.

Don't know what opportunity there will be to watch from the water.

Good luck with it if you go.
