Another rescue today Poole
We were reading about kite surfing kit found and user presumed missing- The white, orange and brown board and red and black kite were found in the water, prompting a four-hour search in Poole Harbour on Friday.
The search was called off but no one was found.
BUT
The search in Poole Harbour involving a helicopter and lifeboat began after a board and kite were found in the water.
It emerged he had lost hold of his kit on the water, abandoned it, went ashore and then home.
Portland coastguard urged people in that situation to contact them to help avoid unnecessary searches.
The kite surfer from Portsmouth arrived at the Watersports Academy in Poole to collect his kit having read about the search on the social networking site.
The coastguard said: "At no time did he attempt to reassure the emergency services that he was safe. On his return to Poole he was given extensive safety advice."
Emergency crews including the RNLI, coastguard, and police spent four hours looking for the kite surfer before the search was ended.
I hope they thanked him for wasting time and money looking for him?
