Report from the Val Gardena Valley. Superb snow conditions, a little on the warm side. Temps in the -20's for DHDai this week. Sunshine for Bedajim next week.

It's dire.

DHD shelled out £750 on ski passes. You can imagine how that went down.

Anyone for Bristol in the morning?

1.13 Euros to the £. They're virtually giving them away.

I'm off to Morzine next Thursday 'till Monday for my Stag Party - there are a group of 20 of us going as it's Derek Basham's Stag do as well (we used to race OCR together) and we have a lot of mutual friends.

Then I'm off to Winter Park in February with some disabled kids for half term week http://www.salvesonskigroup.org/ which should be a great experience for all of us - at least I get to go on a trip with my intended even if we'll be a bit busy! (49" at the base there with 2" of new snow today!)

Oi watch who you're calling Cooksie! Actually I have embraced modern ski technology completely and don't even own a pair now - even when I was skiing for entire seasons and I was a lot fitter than I am now a pair of Rossignol 4S's would last 2 1/2 months or around 10 weeks minimum, so I reckon now I'v aged a bit and not as fit I would struggle to wear out a pair in double that.

Taking all of the above into account and the quality of rental skis and the cost of putting them onto the plane not to mention the maintenance I hire "premium" hire skis and they serve me very well indeed!

Absolutely, I do the same. Haven't had my own skis for 4+ years now, last pair of Vokls that I owned were wrecked in a week due to poor snow coverage, pulled a piece of edge clean off!

Not off till Thursday

Just been robbed for a set of tyres for the truck £170 a corner bloody 17" Wheels, but slicks we're not going to be fun

I've gone the opposite way with the skis for the first time as it's 80-90 euros per week for premium skis so I'll be in profit if they last next year and then stick em on ebay for some beer tokens, if the snows crap i may hire a pair
