Anyone know waht this is?

OK, I know its a boat

It was on its way towards Devonport at Plymouth on Saturday.

I never seen this type of boat in plymouth before and was just curious as to what it is.

RIBase
saw that coming in yesterday aswell. Just been out on a boat trip today cause my RIBs at home .

Apparently it was a 80million 21st birthday present!!! (Owner unknown). It was finished last year, but there was a fire in the engine room on its maiden voyage. They did mention the builder in the commentry, but I cant remember who it was.

Its been moored alongside in Plymouth dockyard for ages , DML must have had the contract to do the repairs . Its not often boats like that are moored up with the grey ones .

DML do build Super yachts. I'd imagine they knocked it up. ' Parked' mine in Port Pendennis last weekend, on the opposite side of the pontoon were 3 100ft+ superyachts. One was Eric Clapton's, another belonged to a German owner and had just had a re-fit in Pendennis Yard, the 3rd was 'Kiring' which belongs to Abramovich's right hand man.'Kiring' tows a 7.5m Ribcraft with twin 100hp Yams. According to the Skipper they've almost lost it twice.

Here's 'Kiring'

Talking of Lovely Boats I saw the Waverly paddle steamer go past Hythe when I was on the ferry to the boat show . It looked fantastic . Is she basd up that way .
I ended up going to Scilly on it once in a fairly lumpy sea . The Scilonian must have been in for a service or something . It was much better into a rolling
sea than the Scilonian and I don't remember half as many sick bags being used .

The Waverly is stunning - especially the open engine room where you can watch steam in action. She's suprisingly quick as well.

I never got to see the engine room . But yes remember it being quite quick , and not much wash ,due to the paddles I guess, It is quite a narrow beam by the looks of it .
It may not now , but I think it used to go all round the country as relief boat to the various ferries thatserve the islands . Iam sure it was on the Lundy run for quite a while .

Theres no wash cos she is flat bottomed... She is indeed a sight, I have run beside her many times, she is the second one from the original design I believe. Being paddle driven, she suffers from some strange helming problems, such as, too many punters on one side of the boat means she cant sail straight, as one paddle comes out of the water, think Ive got some recent photos, will post in a mo

Good video but you HAVE to be there in person - the smells and sounds are incredible and no need for ear muffs unlike diesel engine rooms.

Narrow beam? With those paddles? No chance!!!

More "Mega toys"

Talking of mega yachts; this "toy" nearly ran me over friday
Seems she had been having some work done at a local marine works; (as they have one of the largest boat lifts on the west coast.)

Really funny ,as I heard a very posh female English accent on the VHF requesting clearance to leave port.
Seems it runs around giving cheap tours (130,000 euros a week or so)

If that was the captains voice, then I think I'm in love
cheers Dal

I think I spotted that the other week. Is it the one with a weird crow's nest and bell on the front deck?
