I've got a Weirauch HW80 which was the thing when I was a kid. The latest pneumatics are deadly, I think anything over 22ftlbs muzzle velocity requires an FAC. My F-in-law has an FAC pneumatic. It's so complicated, we can't ever get the thing fully charged or upto full power.

Yup and 6 for a pistol.

Just to put it into perspective 9mm is about 350ftlbs as in a MP5 and a 12 bore is about 2200!!!

Ok, OK,
Need to import a silencer for a 36ftlb. rile into Mexico where they are not considered a firearm. UK dealers will not export so I have to find a non UK dealer/ manufacturer that can. Will try Germany tomorrow. What a bunch of BS, however, same rules as the USA.

Cant you just buy one for a 22LR and use that ? or do you need an FAC for that over there even if its not for firearm use ? You could make one pretty easily too, even from plastic clicky They are more amenable to them here on larger calibres now due to 'Health and Safety' regs would you believe, you couldnt make it up

Does it have to be a high power airgun?

Got to concour with Bigmuz7 why not just buy a .22 ?? I've had various centre fire rifles,as well as rimfire and shotguns over the years[mainly for deer stalking,in +.240CAL] and with all the hassel asossciated with a FAC seems alot pain, just for an airgun. Police checks, security cabinets, separate safe for bolts ect.The types of amunition now available for the humble .22 rimfire is amazeing, from supersonic hard hitting rounds like The Winchester Stinger,to subsonics[which are virtuley silent when used with a modrator]to .22 shorts which are very low power.. and even 'shot' rounds for small 'varmints'.
Not only that ,but a decent .22 like say a 'BRNO' with a reasonable scope and a mod,you can pick up for around 200 quid!If you have to go to the trouble of a FAC why not get a Fiream,a .22 rimfire is a much more versitile weapon.

Some people actually KNOW things without having to google them - I can't remember what I did an hour ago but 450240 just sticks in my mind for some reason!!!

With no explaination of ftlbs used for muzzle velocity one can assume that all those who used it don't have a clue about the subject.
That leaves Maximus as the only one on this thread worth listening to
(I didn't even bother taking me coat off)
