Are the Yanks REALLY this bad?

I just finished watching 'perfect storm rescues' on Sky3.

What a complete pile of crap! The RNLI would have saved every one of the leisure boats in the show rather than abandoning them-and done it in a boat half the size.

As for the dickheads that decided to get out of the rescue RIB into 20 foot waves because the bow compartment had burst....

Maybe it is because we have seen all the other TV shows as well......

The ones that really get me are the Police chase shows - they seem to think it's great to ram a stolen car into about 10 innocent motorists!!!

The best one ever was when a police car rammed a stolen car into a petrol station - the car hit over the pumps and burst into flames - the brave policeman pushed the burning car out of the way. Then again if he hadn't rammed it in the first place!!!

Just watched "Married with Children" - one of my favourites - about the only Yank show I like.

Its best not to get involved with American police they will shoot you at least 5 times if you try to run from your car. Probably because they cant be botherd running so they kill you instead.

Most are suicidle.

I'm not that judgemental-Maybe I should have titled it 'Are the Yank Coastguard really that bad'.

Its just unbelievable that the stuff the media thought was so dramatic was so obviously a cockup from the beginning to end.

PLEASE tell me your emergency services aren't really as bloody incompetent as your media portrays them!

You have a point but most wont go crashing into someone when there going one way and the 'suspect' another on purpose. The cop died on his second hospital visit having done it twice.

I will stand behind the US Coastguard anyday. They are extremely well trained. Did anyone watch what they did in Hurricane Katrina ? They saved literally hundreds of lives. However, please apreciate that that most Americans, acknowledge that Britain has historically, and still has, superior military, police and special forces compared to the rest of the world. Particularily Sir David Stirling's bunch.

So thank your lucky arse and be a little humble.

it is a shame that the equipment given the forces is not up to the standard and volume that the US gives their guys on the whole. Some of our stuff is good but i was always amazed what the US guys got.

WHOA!!! Now there is a hot potato! Don't say that to anybody in the U.S. Marine corps, other any other branch of the U.S. military for that matter, a touchy subject for sure! A sure fire way to start a long debate being as both countries exhibit a lot of pride in their respective military histories/armed services, I would avoid discussion on this like the plague... Comments Cod?

Sorry but seen this first hand. US marines (already fully trained 'recon guys' - who are supposed to be pretty special) struggled with Lympstone. Didn't like the rain much either!!!!

i don't want to start an over the pond row here - there are plenty of things we cannot rival the us in (apart from the fact that we both have dubious leaders)!!! for some reason brits just make good soldiers (probably as bread from various invading warrior races).
