'Atlantic Britain' TV programme

Just watched the first half of tonight's episode (episode 2 in a series of 8 on Channel 4) and it's very interesting.

Basic idea is that a guy remortgaged his house, bought a yacht and hired a skipper, and set off to sail up the Atlantic coast. He couldn't sail beforehand!

So far today he has taken a little Bombard RIB into a South Wales bay and flipped it. The skipper had the difficult job of sailing the yacht into the surf to pick him up. Then they went back by foot (after mooring in a nearby harbour) to try to get the RIB. Good shot of the skipper guy managing to right the RIB before it all goes pear-shaped again!

Well worth watching, I would say.

Yep I agree. Just watched first half. Guess the second bit won't be as exciting.

What was he going to do originally anyway. Land it and then fight his way back out through the surf. Nutter.

Damn I missed that - hope it's repeated sometime

The writeup says he had problems on Marloes sands - is that right?

We were about half a mile or so from there a few hrs ago, and it was lovely... nice sunshine too - come back up the river and then there was grey clouds

Yeah, that was the place. Bet it would be lovely in good weather. The weather he had was good if you were a surfer!

There's another 6 episodes left (although he's moving north all the time so not much chance of a repeat visit to Marloes, Alex). They did retrieve the RIB so may see it in action again!
