BBC Battle of Britain Season

Has anyone on here recorded any of the above BBC programmes?

I am trying to discover which one the pic below was lifted from (apparently it screened as/in a larger group of pilots). I'm keen to locate a copy, as the lad in the middle appears to be my grandfather

Have you tried going to the Beeb direct?

They should be able to facilitate....

Or not.

Ah,

Well in that case, sorry, i only recorded the one which was about Geoff Wellum, one of the youngest pilots to see active service in the battle.

Will have a further dig for you as is something I have always been fascinated in.

Aye!!!

My Grandpa never really talked about his time in the war.

But he and my Grandma met in the RAF, he was involved in bombers and spent alot of time in Egypt.

From what i understand, he was a gunner.

He only ever told me about the time he was visiting Plymouth and they were on the hills watching german bombers flying so low they could almost look down into the cockpits of the planes.

I guess he didn't want to sound like he was bragging or just wanted to forget it all.

Someone has just suggested the BBC shop, which is a good idea - but still no idea which programme it was in. Turns out, it was "grabbed" from the BBC Player (now expired which is why I tried here). I had received the pic via a long chain of emails so I just went and introduced myself to the "OP". Result in 15 mins, and I have another name on my Christmas card list.

Bringing the new total to four...

Matthew (aka Paddy ) Cameron. In September 1940 he was a Flight Sergeant in 66 Squadron (at Kenley/Manston) which was equipped Spitfires. He spent some time on Typhoons later in the war. I suspect that he was something of a renegade, if his character in later life was anything to go by. His written account of his war is very stilted and oddly impersonal. He rarely spoke of it, which is why seeing him in a group photo was interesting for me.

... a little more. It seems that the programme I'm looking for is the one that compares the respective merits of the ME109 and the Spitfire, at least, one viewer says this is the case.

No joy at the Beeb shop
