Be aware of immitations
Just two things beofree I lave you in peace for a few days
1. I was informed by very relaible sources that Falcon lost their case against their x rep in cape Town who aledgedly produced similar RIBs to the Falcon range. So if you want to buy a cheap cheap RIB to have fun and you decide to get a Falcon be aware what you buy, who has made it and where it came from and have a written guarantee with it. IMHO if you looked at the boats were looking exactly the same. The court however didn't think so.
2. I just found out that some (actually one or may be two) people that advertise powerboat lessons on this forum and promote treir business are not registered with the RYA (and I don't mean Jono or Tim and many others).
However, what I I mean is OTHERS (is like a click of mates if you get my drift).
How to check what is what you just go on to the RYA site and look at the approved schools. There you can see what is what and who is who
Do NOT get taken for a ride. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

So why don't you "out" them, if your allegation is true? Save us all the aggro of searching through endless lists....

I think it is very important to point out that like other sites, the RYA have a certain inability to keep things updated - so unless you have checked with the RYA yourself that these schools are not approved I would hold off on potentially slanderous accusations!

Not been on here since March (a tad busy and out of the uk a lot) but I see things are much the same and Manos is still the same old Manos! Come on name names-otherwise all the recognised schools such as myself, jono, etc will have to come on to confirm our status.

How interesting - the powerboat school that Louise and I did courses with isn't listed by doing a search on that page. We received certificates back from the RYA, and the school has been recommended by Paul Glatzel, so I think we were OK with that one. He also does some fairly high profile work with major names in the marine industry so no apparent problem there.
As mentioned above - perhaps the RYA site isn't 100% up to date?
Manos, exactly who are you trying to discredit?

Yeah come on Manos name names. !
By the way would an imitation of a Falcon be such a bad thing, you never know it might be built by craftsmen/women.

For the record, Were on there.
Manos posts like this are not at all helpful!! Anyone taking a course should of course check out there selected school. If people are unsure of how to search the RYA site, A Scatter gun approach can discredit all the recongnised school!! that post on here!!

Manos
"and you decide to get a Falcon be aware what you buy". For once I totally agree with you, you should be very careful when buying a Falcon.
On the other hand those nice boys from www.sovereign-rib.com make a very nice rib. Almost looks like a Falcon, some would say.
Well not the judge anyway!
