Beached Fin Whale

There had been a couple of sightings of something large out in the Bay yesterday and then this afternoon this monster was washed ashore, she/he managed to get off the beach once but was sadly pushed back on again and was deemed too poorly to attempt a rescue, has probably been euthanased by now.
Apparently its a Fin whale, about 65 feet long and who knows what weight 20-30 tons?
Sad sight indeed.

What a shame.
It wasn't there Saturday-I was out and about in the bay for several hours.

I understand that boat strike is a possibility..... PM could tell more. Even if it is boat strike it doesn't neccsarily mean its was 'the cause'.....could be 'effect' of illness /malnutrition.....or vice versa, of course.....
