The SV650 is a very attractive bike to novice riders. Size, cost, looks etc.
However the older models had a strange amount (Quite a lot ) of engine breaking which often used to catch riders out especialy if your down changes are not smooth. Dumping the clutch on a down change would lead to the rear wheel locking up.
Also snapping the throttle shut in 1st gear used to play hell with the balance of the machine, Combined with snatching at the brakes normally ended up with a Tarmac sandwich
I have not ridden a fuel injection model so unable to comment..
