Bad as ever

So i wanted to have a look at a particular boat in the projects section of the boats and outboards website which someone had mentioned to me.... so on i go, click on projects................................ .......................................... ...........1 minute and 33 seconds later we're in business, of course the ads's have loaded no problem and there in lies the problem i reckon... CPU usage goes through the roof when they load... it's an inherent problem with FLV 10 so i don't see why they use it for ad's?... most of it is a load of bollocks that has no relevance anyway!!
Rant over, 'feel better now.

Agreed its been pretty bad over the last few weeks.

Also totally irrelevent adverts, van hire, grab lorry are appearing. What's going on??

Plus not quite as bad - adverts for VHF courses/charter etc in the boats for sale sections. Why??

Hi guys,

Just checking in!

Are people genuinely having site loading problems again? I have been using the site at work and thought it was running well and I haven't received any other complaints recently?

Also you will have hopefully of noticed that some of the irrelevant adverts have now gone!

We are also working on several things to stop the scammers, but I cannot say to much about this except that we are about to provide reporting feature on each private advert so that users can warn us about suspect adverts.

Any questions or issues please email me stephen@boatsandoutboards.co.uk

Thanks

Stephen

There's so much scam in the Outboards for sale section, it's hardly worth looking in there nowadays. The sooner these are removed the better, as it really detracts from the value of the site. If landline numbers were mandatory, rather than 'privacy numbers', which I despise, then perhaps this would keep the scammers at bay.

We are working on that particular problem at the moment, should see some improvements in the next couple of weeks I hope, possibly sooner.

Many thanks

The biggest scam in there is that bunch of idiots at Bill Higham who seem to think a 15 year old piece of Sh1T outboard is worth six figures.

The whole site is filled with their shite.

Otherwise a great site and a great service.

Just so you all are aware, we now have added a "Report Advert" function on each private advert so if you see something fishy then please feel free to hit it, it sends an email to our internet support team who will investigate the advert.

You should share that info with the forum, I'd be interested in seeing what you perceive as an outboard scam.

Not sure if this has been mentioned as this is a long thread.
Be good if B&O contacted the sellers asking if the boats are still for sale. The amount I contacted to be told "Sorry sold" was a pain. Maybe an automated email after 3 weeks?

Be nice if the dealers adverts were seperate from private adverts in the outboards section. I get fed up of scrolling through bill highams junk everytime!
